Amazon.com Product Description
The Sony CMT-HPZ9 Micro System is a five-disc CD changer that delivers clear, powerful sound without taking up a lot of room. If you're looking for a contemporary, compact shelf-style stereo system that's compatible with CD-R/RW, MP3, ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, along with all your standard audio compact discs, then look no further. This micro system is perfect for the contemporary audiophile who already has loads of music compressed and burned in multiple formats on discs. Sony has created a technologically advanced product that plays all these new formats, as well as the old standbys, in one keen looking, superb sounding system.
This stereo delivers high-quality tunes through a two-channel, 170-watt output that will easily fill a small-to-large sized room or office. The three-way main speakers with woofers ensure audio accuracy and deliver a greater frequency range. The speakers are able to split frequency bands into three ranges: bass frequencies go to the woofer, treble frequencies go to the tweeter, and the middle frequencies are directed to the third driver, commonly called the midrange.
It also has an exciting feature that takes music playback beyond tape and compact disc. There is a PC/Audio input for digital music players or your home computer. This connectivity is achieved through a simple plug-and-play, 2.5-millimeter jack that links your devices together in one handy, powerful system. Bringing music together from multiple sources makes this system an excellent choice for the music lover who has tunes in several formats, stored on different devices.
Sony rounds out this system with an AM/FM super-heterodyne tuner. This type of tuner performs better than standard tuners because it operates at a smaller frequency. Thanks to the super-heterodyne tuner, the CMT-HPZ9 delivers crystal-clear broadcasts by honing in on the radio frequency. Plus, you can control all these great features from the comfort of your couch with the included Remote Commander remote control.

Customer Reviews
Clear sound but low bass
This unit delivers clear music, but the bass is low. The speaker wires are permanent and short. It does not have a AUX input and I could not connect my DVD player.
Waste of Money 2
This unit, along with the Sony unit that I replaced it with, both started skipping relatively shortly after the warranty was up. The last unit also blew its power circuit, and wouldn't even turn on after 2 years. Buy a separate component system and a 12 year old used cd changer, and you'll be much farther ahead in the long run. Sony, along with just about all mini-systems are a total waste of money.
A Waste of Money
I have had this stereo in service more than I have had it in my home.
