Sony's DAV-DX150 home theater system gives you everything you need to turn your living room your own personal cinema befitting of today's demanding surround sound Hollywood blockbusters. It features a 5-disc progressive scan DVD player/changer with an integrated receiver that provides 800 watts of total system power output, and a six-speaker, 5.1 surround sound system (one subwoofer with 6.25-inch driver, one center channel, two front satellites, and two rear satellites). It also offers Dolby Digital, DTS, and Pro Logic II processing for surround sound from DVD, VHS, and stereo sources.
The 5-disc DVD player/changer is compatible with a wide range of disc formats, including standard music CDs, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, as well as MP3 audio files and JPEG image files. Other features include a 12-bit, 108 MHz DAC (digital to analog converter) and three play modes (shuffle, program, repeat). Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive detects image changes at the pixel level versus other types that detect image changes at the scan line level. Separate algorithms are used to process the moving and still parts of an image to achieve sharper backgrounds and moving objects that are free from motion artifacts.
This set of compact speakers are perfect for rooms with little space to spare. They're designed using precision crossover assemblies to ensure that all speakers blend and recreate a seamless soundstage. TodayÕs discrete digital surround formats are able to reproduce the same sound throughout every speaker. If a variance in speaker drivers, crossover settings, or driver material occurs from one speaker to the next, the pitch and surround illusion can suffer. Sony speakers are designed using matching driver compliments and crossovers to ensure perfect blending.
The integrated receiver/amplifier features a 6-channel amplifier (133 watts x 5, plus 135 watts for subwoofer), sleep timer, Bass Boost functionality, and AM/FM digital tuner with 30 total available presets. It provides the following connections:

Great Value for sub $300 system
The 5 DVD changer is great. The sound quality is above what you would expect from a system of this cost level. A little light on the high end I feel but really depends a lot on your sound source as well. Some say they think the bass is weak but I found if I put the sub-woofer box on it's back pointing up to the ceiling I get great bass. More than I want. Speaker placement is everything. Try several different placements and hear the difference. All in all I am very happy except I wish the highs were a little more tinkly.

Sony's DVD Home Theater System is a very good choce if you are seeking to add some quality sound to extra room. The complete package comes with everything you need to install your system in very littler time. Instructions are good with additional color coding for speaker wire connections. Overall the Sony Home Theater System is a good buy for the amount.
Great Product at a Reasonable Price
I bought this home theater system for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loved it! He loves the fact that it is a 5-disc changer so that he doesn't have to get up and change DVDs all the time. He also liked the fact that the speakers give you the option of putting them on pedestals that you can buy separetly. Overall, I was very satisfied with the product and recommend it to anyone who is interested in purchasing it.
