Amazon.com Product Description
Whether you're infusing home theater sensibilities into your office or simply wanting the option to access your desktop or laptop computer from the living room or kitchen, Sony's 23-inch KLV-S23A10 LCD television is the set for you. The high-definition-ready TV offers 1,3660 x 768 native pixel resolution and compatibility with 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i HDTV signals. The set's widescreen, 16:9 aspect ratio to match the dimension of most movies and HDTV broadcasts, and its onboard SRS TruSurround audio processing simulates a surround-sound effect through the set's two speakers (5 watts x 2).
LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including a thin form factor (this set is just 3.6 inches thick), general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life with no risk of image burn-in, space savings, and light weight/easy positioning.
The KLV-S23A10 also offers Sony's CineMotion reverse 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.
Other enhancements include Sony's Advanced Video Processor (a one-chip video processor with a motion-adaptive 3D I/P converter), a Dynamic Picture processor (which maintains image detail in the very bright and dark areas of each scene), and a 3D Y/C comb filter, which removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). To simplify setup and operation, Sony provides its WEGA GATE easy-operation onscreen menu.
Connections include a direct-digital HDMI interface for use with DTV set-top boxes, a VGA PC input, a high-definition-compatible component-video input, 3 each composite- and S-video inputs, and an RF coaxial input for hookup with an older VCR, cable box, or antenna.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your television. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.
What's in the Box
TV, operating instructions, remote control, 2 batteries (for remote), an RF coaxial cable, a VGA PC cable, an AC adapter and power cord, a registration card, a warranty card, a table-top pedestal.

| What is BRAVIA™? Sony’s heritage places it at the forefront of technological advancement in every generation of television for the past 40 years. Sony’s newest brand, BRAVIA™, introduces the next generation of LCD TVs that showcase Sony technological expertise. BRAVIA™ stands for "Best Resolution Audio Video Integrated Architecture" and five Sony high-definition flat-panel LCD TVs including the XBR and the 23" and 26" S-series LCDs will be the first models to carry the BRAVIA™ logo. How is BRAVIA™ Different? |
| Super-Patterned Vertical Alignment BRAVIA™ televisions’ new Super-Patterned Vertical Alignment (S-PVA) panels divide pixels into more segments than was possible with PVA (Pattered Vertically Aligned) technology. These segments have an incredibly fast 8-millisecond response time that increases the television’s refresh rate. Dividing the pixel display into more segments also allows a cleaner break between dark and light pixels, improving viewing angles, color, and contrast. The diagram below demonstrates how, by increasing in the number of segments per sub-pixel from one to two, and increasing speed of refresh rate accordingly, picture quality can be achieved that can entirely eliminate flicker and bring the viewing experience to a whole new level. |
| BRAVIA™ televisions even feature LCD panels that automatically adjust to ambient light conditions to ensure the optimal image the entire time you’re watching. WCG-CCFL (Wide Color Gamut-Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light): Sony BRAVIA S-Series BRAVIA™ S-Series LCD televisions use a full-Digital, 1-chip video processor for crisp and clear images. Several unique picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance Contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image Flicker. BRAVIA™ S-Series LCD televisions also offer the WEGA GATE user guide. You can easily change your settings or access your favorite TV channels by simply touching the WEGA GATE button on the Remote Control to activate the comprehensive graphic menu. Excellent
SONY KLV23A10
Excellent! As usual Sony produces another fine TV & Monitor. "BUT" unfortunately I purchased my unit from "Sony Style" (presale) and as sometimes happens with Sony products they can be shipped with a major flaw. The warranty covered the repair. The unit could not be replaced with a new unit because "Sony Style" counts as the purchased date, the beginning of the thirty day warranty. Most stores will use the day of delivery the beginning of the thirty day warranty. It took over a month for the part to be delivered since the "KLV23A10" was new to the market. Sony followed the process dilengtly and are paying for the pick-up and delivery. The unit is now for the moment as far as I can see "PERFECT", with the usual excellent screen that Sony manufactures. My PC works well using the PC port. The other ports are fine and flexible for many external devices. What I like most is waking up to the news. The second timer is also very handy as a burglar alarm. After the wait and seeing the performance of the unit I still give it five stars. Warning! If you plan to buy a Sony product make sure everything is working as soon as you take it out of the box. (This inconvenience happened with another one of their products) As to their customer support I would give that five stars too. Enjoy!
Great Value!
This is the first posting I've had on Amazon. So, this shows my satisfaction with the product. I purchased this LCD for our bedroom as a replacement for a broken CRT television. Shopping around, it was hard to find a better value. For the price point, you either have to jump up quite a bit to get a better quality/larger screen. Or, you go way down in quality and size. So, if you're looking to limit your purchase to under $1000, I think this is the best value! The prices out there are under $1000 for this TV because the market is pushing some of the newer models with better technology.
The quality on this set is better than all the ones I've compared. The only caveat for you is to make sure you have the right cables/splitters, etc when installing it. Try to find that out before you buy any of the newer TVs. Best of luck with your decision!
10 stars.
TV is excellent. Color, clarity, looks, sound...all best for this size LCD...even for regular cable. Has component plugs for highest quality DVD playback. I researched this size TV for months and this is hands down the finest 23"...bar none. The only fault is the remote...poorly placed controls...easily replaced. And given the price ($940 delivered at Amazon), this is an amazing deal. DVD movies are AWESOME...make sure you set up your DVD player to play on a widescreen TV.
