Garbage
I really can't come up with anything good to say about this docking station. It's huge (the footprint is nearly 12" x 12"). It didn't come with its own power supply. There's no audio connection on the dock. There's no on/off-- which means you have to open the laptop to power on. It doesn't always recognize my external monitor.
To top it all off, after only 3 months of use, docking/undocking 1-2x per week, the reference pins have broken off of the docking station, the connector to the laptop has broken loose of its cheap plastic housing, and it's now a rather expensive piece of trash. I can't get the laptop to connect at all.
Come on, Sony. You can do way better than this.
Not impressed
I must say that I'm not impressed with this docking station. It comes with NO documentation and is somewhat of a mystery how to operate it. It has no ON/OFF button, so you have no clue as to how to turn the machine on once it's docked. And the "power brick" as a tendency to pull the power plug out of it's jack, and you won't know it until your battery dies unexpectedly.
Still, it does provide extra USB ports and does recharge the battery when you can keep it powered up. I suppose it's not totally worthless. Were there an alternative I would gladly throw away this one despite the expense.
