THIS IS NOT A TOY!!5
It's not a toy, but it is definitely fun. The claim for this helo is that a first time flyer should be able to fly it out of the box, and that is true. I had never flown a RC plane or helicopter before I got this. The manual is excellent and it also comes with a video CD to supplement the manual. After reading the manual, watching the video, and charging the battery, I was able to hover it around a few inches off my kitchen floor. Of course, you can fly it higher but you are supposed to start very low until you get the hang of it. While it is made for first time flyers it is still too advanced for kids under 13 and will intimidate a younger child. I would highly recommend getting the AC adapter to charge the included battery, and would get a second battery since they only offer around 10 minutes of flight time each. If you are like me, an adult, who has long wanted to fly an RC helo, this is perfect.

E-Flites CX Beginners Helicopter Out Of The Box !5
This is a very complete package and flew right out of the Box! Absolutely no assembly other than the flight battery, even came with Both AC and DC Charger.. Is A Very Durable Item..

The Dual blades provide steady hovering and flight but strongly suggest a simulator or flight time with cheaper toy model at least that hovers, will give a hint of what to expect.

Check your balance by holding the top blades, must be level to fly correctly, slide the battery forward or back to make any correction..

Likely not to be trimmed on first outing, note the directions of drift, land right away do not trim during flight, make small settings..

I elected to fly a toy model as Blade Runner or Award Winner, developed some hovering skill, little direction w/these cheaper ones but gave some on hands flight time prior to the CX..

First flights short, bunnie hops, near trim and it hovered beautifully, rather than inches, better luck with couple feet off the ground as too low will have a tendency to fall over, same effect even toy model...then progress to over waist to head level.. work on one direction only, go slowly don't try all the movements at once, best feature on this one is by letting go of right lever and still holding throttle it stops and hovers, so if it heads the wrong way simply let go of the right lever..land quickly if it heads towards any obsticle..my first flights were stunning..takes awhile to learn the steering...at least twice it zoomed up too high, so make sure there's plenty of overhead room, bring it down slowly..

Second outing as I was picking up the model and by accident hit the throttle and blades and top hub broke as made contact w/ground, dumb mistake on my part, parts arriving any day, $8.99 for the center inner shaft w/hub less for the blades..

Last need LOTS OF ROOM on first flights, either inside a gym or out-side is fine provided open area and conditions calm, no wind please on first flights, will later handle 2 mph without much problem..early mornings and evenings usually the best as often calm...READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FULLY AND WATCH VIDEO..For a first time flying model, a complete winner, love it so far, just take your time and be patient..

Great first helicopter5
This is the first RC (radio control) aircraft I have ever flown, although I have raced RC cars for quite awhile. It comes fully assembled with a nice manual and even a quick intro DVD to get you in the air quickly.

I started out in my living room and it has worked just great. With just a little trimming out the heli is very stable and easy for which to get a feel. I've run it for a few hours now with no incidents and I'm getting pretty good at hovering although I still have a tough time with head-in flight (controls thus reversed).

The Blade CX RTF makes a great first heli or just a great indoor heli. Probably fine for anyone over 10 years old. I am getting 10-15 minutes of flight time on a battery charge. The only disappointment is that charging a battery takes 60-90 minutes (typical with all LiPo batteries). I'd recommend getting an extra battery or two and maybe even an extra powersupply and charger. Also I have tried the Training Gear add-on for the Blade CP/CP Pro -- it fits the CX just fine and allows you to use it later if you move on -- and it helps with damage but makes the Blade CX slightly less stable in hover in my opinion but not terribly so. They're probably worth the trade off at first.

In a few more hours I think I'll be ready to move up to the Blade CP Pro. Highly recommended for anyone interested in entering RC helicopters or who just wants a heli to fly around the house.
