Amazon.com Product Description
Enjoy the crystal clear imagery of high-definition television with the stylish and nicely affordable 32-inch Sylvania 6632LG LCD HDTV. It has a built-in ATSC tuner that pulls HD signals right from the airwaves (via an optional antenna. You can also hook up an HDMI-capable cable or satellite set-top box and enjoy the the highest standard of high-definition audio and video--with a single cord connection. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. It comes with a removable tabletop stand, and this set can be wall-mounted with optional hardware.
The 6632LG delivers a true 1366 x 768-pixel HDTV resolution (capable of displaying 1080i and 720p high-definition signals), and it features a wide 176-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating--perfect for viewing colorful details in even direct sunlight--and high 1200:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also offers a very fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which is great for watching fast-moving. sports and action movies.
The 3D comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Other features include standard picture controls (contrast, brightness, color, tint, sharpness), trilingual onscreen display (English, French, Spanish), sleep timer, closed caption decoder, and V-Chip parental controls.
This set includes two bottom-mounted stereo speakers that provide 5 watts of power per channel (for 10 watts of total power), and it provides a digital coaxial audio output for connecting to a home theater receiver for immersive surround sound. It has the following connection options:
- Composite AV (RCA): 2 in
- S-Video: 2 in
- Component Video: 2 in
- HDMI: 1 in
- RF: 1 in
- Digital audio: 1 coaxial output
Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.
Response Time refers specifically to LCD monitor and refers to the amount of time it takes for a liquid crystal cell to from active (black) to inactive (white) and back against to active (black). It's measured in milliseconds (ms), and the lower the number the faster the response time--translating to a smoother picture with fewer pixilated or ghosted artifacts.

Sylvania 32" LCD TV
I recently purchased this TV for my family room and I will give you the good and bad that I found. First, the good:
(1) Picture is very clear. Sharp AQUOS might have the best picture but
the picture on this TV is a 9 on a 10 point scale. I do get some
picture "jibberish" on certain HDTV channels from time-to-time but
that is due to the station signal coming from my cable provider
because other HDTV channels are crystal clear 100% of the
time. Therefore, I do NOT attribute that sporadic problem to the
set itself.
(2) Viewing angle is very acceptable. You can sit from 40-140 degrees
from in front of the TV without experiencing any color distortion.
(3) Decent quantity of interfaces on back (2 component, 2 composite,
hdmi, 2 s video, audio out (connection to stereo,etc..).
(4) Easy to understand written instructions and on-screen set up.
(5) The TV is very light and easy to pick up and move.
(6) XBOX 360 looks and plays great on this set - no problems
whatsoever. It completely blows away SDTV.
(7) Audio is very good to me. I turned the set to the highest
volume level and there was no audio distortion or vibration coming
from the speakers.
Now the bad:
(1) The set has ATSC/NTSC tuners but NO Cable Card Slot and no QAM
Tuner. This was not important to me because: [1] Most stations
scramble (or will eventually scramble) their digital signals which
will make QAM tuners a waste of money that adds to the cost of the
TV. [2] I was willing to pay an extra $5/month for the Set Top Box
from my cable provider.
(2) No PIP (Picture in Picture)
(3) The interfaces on the back of the TV are spaced too close together.
For example, it is hard to disconnect component #1 input cables or
composite #1 input cables without disturbing component #2 or
composite #2 input cables. I have large hands so that may not be a
problem for most people.
(4) The remote is CHEAP. It is 100% functional but I thought Sylvania
would manufacture a much better remote given their long history of
manufacturing TV sets. I use the universal remote provided by my
cable provider for most functions.
(5) Base stand of TV looks good but is very poorly designed. When I
simply turned the TV 45 degrees without lifting it off the wooden
TV stand, the TV Base made a circular swirl scratch on the TV
stand. After feeling the bottom of the base, I discovered very
rough edges where the bottom of the base meets the side of the
base. BEWARE - either hang the TV on the wall, cover the furniture
you set the TV on, or always lift the TV off of the furniture
whenever you need access to the interfaces on the back.
Bottom Line, this TV is still worth the money. It was almost 30% cheaper than the Sharp AQUOS 32" and some people would not want to spend an additonal $200-$400 for a 32" Sharp TV when the quality of picture is similar and the standard warranty is similar (Sharp only offers a 1 year parts and labor warranty too). If you don't want to spend the extra money, then this TV is very good. However, Sharp Aquos is better.
Sylvania has more than 40 years of experience in manufacturing TV sets and the company gives you a 90 day labor and 12 months parts warranty. I did get a 2 year extended warranty because fixing these puppies is NOT cheap (if they break). The extended warranty was only $60 so I feel comfortable about this set -- at least for the next 2 years anyway (LOL)!!!
I hope that I have given you some insight into the pros and cons of this TV set but I can say that I am happy with this set to date. There is NOTHING like HDTV regardless of what set you buy!!!
Bravo Sylvania
I ordered this through Walmart Online last Sunday and it arrived the following Friday. Hooking it up via cable was easy given Sylvania and Comcast's clear directions. I used a Comcast cable box, which allows for recording on two tuners. The HD and analog picture quality are excellent with exceptional clarity and rich color along with opportunity for easy fine tuning. I decided not to buy a service contract, as in general I've had good experience with the reliability of first-class products. This set is, also, well designed with clean lines, fine blackish color, and an understated Sylvania name logo. They, also, found a way to neatly and unobtrusively connect cables to the back of the set, though it makes it a little harder to do the connections.
I was able to get the HDMI cable free from Comcast; If you can't do this, by all means pay a little extra for this cable, which unquestionably gives the best picture. Also, make sure your TV input is selected to whatever input hookup chosen.
The Walmart Online price is $658 plus sales tax, if applicable, and $30 shipping, a real bargain for a good quality 32" flatscreen LCD HD TV with HDMI capability and 1080i/720p signals.
Excellent
What a beautiful television, everything I've watched has looked amazing. HD is the way to go and Sylvania lived up to all my hopes in buying a new television. I would recommend this tv to anyone.
