Customer Reviews

Hi-tech at a Low-tech Price5
I ordered this item from [...] and received it about one month prior to the date of this review.

Some important notes:

- The speakers come with clear instructions on how to set them up as stand speakers or traditional bookshelf-like speakers (we chose the stand option). There are also cursory instructions on connecting the system to your receiver but you will likely wish to consult your receiver's manual.

- As stand speakers, they stand above the top of a standard sofa (approximately 4' let's say).

- The design is quite modern (the surround speakers are thin--probably 0.5" deep at most) and the subwoofer is compact (although the subwoofer's speaker is on the side of the unit so the unit must be placed lengthwise against a wall or on an angle, such as in a corner).

- Although the rear speakers aren't wireless, the stands that hold them are hollow so wires are neatly hidden inside and below the base of the stand.

- You'll find that most movies you'll rent or own are encoded with Dolby 5.1 sound so the rear center speaker will seldom be used during movie watching (unless you're simply listening to 6 channel, non-surround audio).

- The sound is crisp, clear and, when needed, loud. When rain falls on screen, it's as if it is falling inside your theater room. And for a compact unit, the subwoofer boasts impressive room-rattling range (e.g. thunder rumbles, truck engines roar, etc.). Movie soundtracks are crystal clear on this system. You may hear subtle undertones in movie soundtracks that you may not have noticed the first time you listened in before these speakers.

We happen to live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building, so having the stand speakers (off the floor) was a perfect solution. In addition, 600W seems to be just the right amount of "oomph" we needed so that we can enjoy the true theater experience without disturbing our neighbors.

If you're putting together your theater system piece-by-piece and are in the market for an affordable, stylish speaker system that doesn't skimp on quality of sound, I recommend you not be frightened off by the "off brand" name and give this system a try.
