From the Manufacturer
The S Series is the latest offering from the Sony Bravia line of high-performance and sleek styling LCD TVs. Features such as PC input allow the user to connect a PC for viewing content in a 16:9 high resolution environment. And with integrated HDTV capabilities, you can enjoy digital programming with enhanced audio and video reproduction. While the KDL-23S2010 is value priced, it also offers an elegant flat panel design to place anywhere in your home.

Feature List
7th Generation Sony® LCD Panel: The Sony® S-Series LCD TVs use 7th generation Sony LCD panels for truly matchless image quality and performance. These panels are produced from one of the world’s biggest mother glass to efficiently create large, high quality panels. The LCD high definition display (1366 x 768) that is used offers an astounding 178 degree viewing angle, very fast response times (8 ms total rise and fall time) and a spectacular contrast ratio.

BRAVIA Engine™ Full Digital Video Processor: BRAVIA™ S-Series Digital LCD televisions use Sony's BRAVIA Engine™ full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image flicker.

HDMI™ and PC Connectivity: Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The PC input (HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor.

Light Sensor Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.

SRS® TruSurround® XT: Building on the success of TruSurround technology, TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into "focus" during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper. TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself. And WOW widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Freeze Function: Sony’s Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

Great small HDTV5
This TV is the new model of the KDL-23S2000. It now includes a QAM/ATSC digital tuner. Also, it is black, and in my opinion, looks much nicer (kind of like the more expensive XBR). I previously owned last year's 26" model, and it had a stuck red pixel in the center and motion blur so horrible it made gaming impossible. I'm happy to report that my TV has absolutely no malfunctioning pixels and has very minimal motion blur. In short, you can finally play games on an LCD without getting sick. Also, it does have an input switch button (I think last year's model did not, forcing you to navigate the menu to change inputs). The colors are a lot more natural than the Samsung since it doesn't have Samsung's mandatory DNe "cartoon colors" processor.

This TV is loaded with a ton of features. Most importaintly, it has a light sensor that adjusts the backlight level. In my opinion, this is a killer feature because it dramatically improves the black levels by adjusting the backlight so blacks always appear black. Also its got a ton of features too long to list that allows you to customize just about everything. For example, there is a diagnostic screen that lists all the signal properties of your station, such as SNR, signal strength, frequency, etc. Also, you can label channels, label inputs and view program information that accompanies digital channels (such as the show description, remaining time, station ID, etc.)

One other feature that seems to be new is a tilting stand. You can tilt the screen up and down by about +/- 10 degrees or so.

Some of the drawbacks of this TV are only one HDMI input (although I plan to use a PlayStation 3 as a game machine/DVD player) and only one RF input (either cable or RF). However, contrary to what the manual says, you don't have to rescan/autoprogram all the channels after switching between cable and OTA. Also, I think the sound is a little less impressive than on the 26" model. However, this is to be expected given the smaller size and the 5 Watt speakers instead of the 10 Watt that come on all the larger sets.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased. I think this is the best deal and highest quality TV on the market right now, and I've owned a bunch of them.

The Best Picture I've Seen!5
When I did my research for a small(er) HDTV, I couldn't find a lot of info, so I went to the stores. I had almost given up until I turned toward the Bravia. It had the clearest, cleanest, warmest picture I had seen, especially compared to other TVs in the store. Right out of the box it sets itself up and is ready for many, many hours of great viewing. There are audio and video adjustments that you may or may not need. It has many more options than I'll ever need.

I can find a single thing wrong with it unless it breaks down, which I don't anticipate. Bravo Sony on this Bravia!

Amazing antenna reception5
I bought this TV for use in the kitchen where currently there is not a cable hookup. I did not expect to see anything exceptional when I turned it on since it was only hooked up to an inexpensive amplified indoor antenna. The analog channels were unwatchable but then I ran the auto program to find digital channels. The TV was able to find 20 or so HD and digital broadcast signals in the area which are as clear and clean as any you will see in the big store showrooms. We only use the kitchen TV to watch the local network affiliates and with the exceptional reception this TV produces, I am in no hurry to arrange a cable hookup.
