From the Manufacturer
Experience a more dynamic and vibrant picture with the 32" BRAVIA™ digital LCD television. New features such as the dynamic backlighting system called ACE (Advanced Contrast Enhancement) automatically adjust the intensity of the backlight for improved contrast. In addition, a built-in Light Sensor intelligently fine-tunes the screen brightness to match the ambient light in your room ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. The KDL-32S2400 features enhanced connectivity via HDMI™ input and PC input through HDMI™ providing quality playback of nearly every connected device.
Feature List
Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) Function: The Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on Sony's excellent on-contrast ratio performance. A Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 5000:11 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the "numbers", Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see.
BRAVIA Engine™ Full Digital Video Processor: The BRAVIA™ S2400 LCD televisions use the BRAVIA Engine™ full digital video processor for crisp and clear images. Several special picture enhancement technologies are integrated into the processor to create better gradations and details, enhance contrast, dynamically improve color, and reduce image flicker.
HDMI™ and PC Connectivity: Designed for maximum versatility, the BRAVIA S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The PC input (HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor2.
Light Sensor Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing.
SRS® TruSurround® XT: Building on the success of TruSurround technology, TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience. Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into "focus" during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper. TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself. And WOW widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.
Freeze Function: Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

Look no further...
This is the best 32" HDTV on the market. I did not however purchase it from Amazon.com, simply because my local electronics store could match Amazon's price. The TV looks amazing right out of the box. It is so straight forward to set it up. It took me maybe 10 minutes total. It asks you a few simple questions and then it programs the stations, like a champ.
The picture is brilliant. You can really tell the 5000:1 contrast ratio. It sizzles. So clear and vibrant. You can adjust the picture setting even more from the MENU.
The sound is also wonderful. I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say that the speakers on HDTVs are barely passable. This TV's speakers do an amazing job creating a SurroundSound in my living room. I have a small apartment but regardless, even with outside noise, the sound comes out and clear. It was a pleasant surprise.
Overall, this is a must have. From picture to sound and design, this TV truly stands out in the class. I highly recommend it.
HDTV Review - Sony KDL-32S2400
Overall I am very satisfied with this HDTV set. I am very pleased with it's ability to receive over-air HDTV broadcasts. Every local station is strong with only an old-fashioned set-top rabbit ears (with UHF loop) that I have set on the floor behind a chair near the set. I think the sound is a little flat, and I don't like the glare off the screen and the gloss black band across the lower part of the set. However, brightness is very good and dimensional depth of the picture is outstanding. Some shows, like the PBS HD broadcasts have a 3-D look to them. This is the main reason I bought Sony. Another surprise was how good DVD movies looked in widescreen format. The progressive scan feature of the DVD player produces an image that is excellent on this screen. If I could ask Sony for one thing it would be to provide some way to adjust the set controls for Normal, Zoom, Wide, and Wide Zoom. Films shown in widescreen format over regular cable (I have DISH) cannot normally be adjusted larger without cropping more of the image than I would like. This might be a problem with most sets, but Sony could provide some tweaking here.
Great Television
This television is an absolutely great purchase! The picture is very clear and has a great viewing angle. The only problem I have had is in the sound from the television. Each channel has a different volume. I will contact the manufacturer to see if this is a setting I am missing or what. Otherwise, an excellent product!
