Plain but well designed.
While "some assembly acquired" is often a prelude to hours of agonizing over missing parts and unclear directions, I found this item to have been carefully packaged and engineered. The only difficulty came at a point where metal support rods are inserted through a small opening and must be blindly threaded onto attachment points about a foot away. However, all of the numerous parts were present, and to a large extent the assembly process had been considered in the design of the shelf. While a slightly taller unit, with an additional shelf for more components, might have been desirable, I would still recommend this base for any of the now-discontinued Sony A3000 TVs; an important design feature is the support hardware which attaches to the back of the TV and greatly reduces the chance of the TV being accidentally tipped.
