Carrying case - Yes but instant shooting - NO
SonyStyle shop's advertisement states "New type of camera case which enables instant shooting". Well, I was used to the case of my old Minolta SLR: Unbutton - flap down cover - shoot...
This design is really poor. After you manage to get your camera out, the whole bag (leather is not lightweight) hangs down on the shoulder strap and causes slight movements of the camera due to its weight. Getting the camera back in is the next difficulty - you are ready to strip off the whole thing when you are done...
I had to return the item and hope that Sony will learn from Minolta's past experience in making excellent carrying cases.
A Perfect Fit for my alpha 300
I like the versatility of the case since you can use it on your belt, or just to cover your camera when you use the neck strap on your camera. Additionally with the a300 it is very easy to take shots when using it as you can extract the camera very quickly, either if you use the case on your belt or with the neck strap.
Beware that since it is as a just fit case, it doesn't have any pockets for memory cards, filters or anything else, it is made for the camera and the attached lenses. It will not fit when you have a 70-300mm lens attatched to the camera (I tried already).
Bottom line this is a very good case as long as you don't require to use it with big lenses attached to the camera, or if you are not using a vertical grip.
Leather's Nice, but not for This.
I bought the sony alpha leather carrying case about a month ago, and ended up returning it, just because I was under the impression that there were loops on it that you could slide a "shoulder strap" through. The only carrying loop available, is for you belt; My camera is way too heavy to be carrying on my side...it feels bulky:( Also, it's actually a pain getting the camera in and out, because even though the part where the neck strap goes throught has a part where you can "clip" it in, it takes forever to get it out of the case, and it's just a pain. I don't recommend it if your concern is practicality.
