A disappointment
I bought this flash with the hopes that I could get a good, reliable flash without having to spend more on the Nikon Speedlight. While the flash itself did all that it promised, once I mounted it on the camera it was unreliable at best. It was almost as if the contacts for the hotshoe did not line up. My on-camera flash kept responding, but not the Phoenix. Once in a while I could finesse it into position long enough to get one or two shots, which turned out very nice, but then it would stop communicating with the camera again. After doing some more on-line research it seems that this is true for other "off-brand" flashes that claim to be compatible with the Nikon. In the end I returned the Phoenix and am awaiting the Nikon Speedlight. I guess this is one of those situations where you just have to spend the money to get what you really want.
