Customer Reviews
Deep Bass ... but weak mids and scratchy tweeters!
Revised review after 30 days of use. NOW ONLY 3 STARS!!! I bought the Alpine SPS-600 coaxial speakers for the front doors of a Toyota Highlander, after trying many, many 5.25 to 6.5 inch speakers from Infinity, Polk, Pioneer, etc. that had no bass. These have awesome bass for 6.5 inch speakers, run off a 20 watt/channel Sony Head unit. However: At first I was impressed, but as time wore on I noticed these were too laid back... no midrange, and then the tweeter sounded scratchy and piercing. I tested them with my speaker testing system and found that they had a deep hole at 1500 hz... apparently from the large tweeter mount, and a really peaky tweeter response.
I replaced them with Kenwood Excelon KFC-X172 and am really thrilled with those. Almost as much bass as the Alpine S600, but way, smoother... clear... trite, but sounds like the musicians are right there! Almost as good as much more expensive speakers.
Outstanding sound & quality!
Purchased these Alpine speakers to replace the factory installed speakers on my 05' Chevy TrailBlazer and the difference in sound quality is amazing! The highs and lows are much more crisp and clearer to go along with my factory system. The bass thumps pretty good without an amp too. After reading many reviews and comparing other speakers, the Alpines were the way to go. It was not just based on price (which was a great deal by the way) but also on reputation & quality. Installation was easy and only took about an hour to install 4 speakers to the front & rear doors. (This included removal of & re-installing the door panels) didn't need to use the speaker covers) Went to a local car stereo installer and he wanted to charge around a $100 bucks with a 4 hour wait. Save your money and google how to remove door panels for your specific vehicle and you too can be listening to better sound with your factory or aftermarket system. I highly recommend these. You won't be disappointed!

Alpine SPS-600 - excellent factory replacements!
Got these on a recommendation from another site and because the price here was so good - especially with Prime shipping. I wish I had done this a long time ago 'cos these sounds great, and so much better than the factory speakers that came with my car!
I have a 2002 Maxima, no Bose sound system, although I wouldn't be surprised if these sounded better than the Bose. Always wanted to get a better sound system, but didn't want to go to the trouble of taking out my door panels, etc. First time installing car speakers. Although taking the car apart was a pain in the neck, I didn't permanently break anything and the replacements were worth it.
I can hear so much more depth than before, and I literally and technically sit in a surround sound environment. Wondering if I should even go to the trouble of replacing the stereo itself - the difference is that big with my sound system now.
I didn't have to use the nice covers that came with the speakers, but the round frames that came with them didn't fit the screw openings in my door perfectly. I managed, but I used just two screws instead of the three with the original speakers. All worked out OK. Like I said, biggest hassle was the doors. These Alpines have been handling everything I throw at them from Mozart to the Dark Knight soundtrack to AC/ DC and Springsteen. Tomorrow I'm going for a long drive to just listen to some music!
