 | Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens
Buy new: $99.95 / Used from: $89.94 Perfect starter lens for the price. Everyone learning should try this lens first. Master shooting at 1.8 (not as easy as it sounds) and then progress on to 1.4 and 1.2. These numbers are the apertures and let you shoot in lower light without a flash, but more importantly they allow you to obtain a shallower depth of field throwing the backgrounds out of focus beautifully.

Its image processor is better than my Rebel XTi and and faster. You can crank up the ISO to 6400 and with a 1.8 lens shoot in a dimly lit church with no falsh, acceptable noise, and a great image!

They also just make your camera look alot bigger and really cool! I have one and it also gives you controls that are easier to work should you turn the camera sideways to take a portrait shot.
