Well Worth the Amazon Price
This unit was worth all the effort and research. Amazon had the lowest price. However the unit is controlled by the seller(Smoth Fitness) and the shipping charges I thought were high $160. It also took quite some time to get here from original ordee date(Dec 31 and delivered Jan 14). I did recieve notification via mail from Smoth Fitness but my 2 calls/voice mail messages were ignored. With all that said, it is the only reason for not recieving 5 stars. The product itself is everything they advertised and then some. It is very stable and very well constructed. One of the few within this price range that have a lifetime warranty on the frame and will handle a person up to 350lbs. If they could only improve their customers service or take some lessons from Amazon(which ROCKS).
Smoth CE Elliptical Trainer
I had a great exoerience with Smooth Fitness from my online order of the CE Elliptical Crosstrainer to its arrival about 10 days later. I was e-contacted by a customer service rep within 24 hours of my order, and my question re: delivery (by Bekins) was promptly and accurately answered. My CE elliptical came well and easily packaged, so I could have it delivered curbside and then I could bring it inside piece by piece by myself - one piece is heavy so two people would do that more easily. Otherwise it's simple to do by one person, and the assembly diagrams are easy to follow, making the assembly quite straightforward. And . . . it rides like a beauty - quietly, smoothly, and solidly.
Loved the elliptical; hated the service
I purchased a Smooth Fitness CE Elliptical on December 22, 2005. The unit was delivered on January 10, 2006. I paid an extra $100 to have the unit uncrated and set up in my exercise room. The delivery person setting up my unit had never seen an elliptical trainer before and wound up setting it up improperly. After about 30 min. of use the next day, the unit started to make a high pitch squeal. I submitted a service request on January 11, 2006. It took two weeks before someone contacted me. On the day that my elliptical was to be serviced, the service agent never showed up causing me to waste a vacation day. When I called Fitness Contractors to inquire as to what had happened, the woman answering the phone was extremely rude and hung up on me. I was so frustrated by the whole service experience that I eventually returned my Smooth Fitness CE elliptical for a full refund. I plan to purchase a Schwinn 438 elliptical trainer in its place.
