Product Description

Following a series of arcade game successes in the early 1980s, Nintendo made plans to produce a cartridge-based console. Masayuki Uemura designed the system, which was released in Japan on July 15, 1983 for ¥14,800 alongside three ports of Nintendos successful arcade games Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Popeye. Following a product recall and a reissue with a new motherboard, the Famicoms popularity soared, becoming the best-selling game console in Japan by the end of 1984. Encouraged by its successes, Nintendo soon turned its attention to the North American market. Nintendo entered into negotiations with Atari to release the Famicom under Ataris name as the name Nintendo Enhanced Video System; however, this deal eventually fell through.[11][12] Subsequent plans to market a Famicom console in North America featuring a keyboard, cassette data recorder, wireless joystick controller, and a special BASIC cartridge under the name "Nintendo Advanced Video System" likewise never materialized. In June 1985, Nintendo unveiled its American version of the Famicom at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It rolled out its first systems to limited American markets on October 18, 1985, following up with a full-fledged North American release of the console in February of the following year.[13] Nintendo simultaneously released eighteen launch titles: 10-Yard Fight, Baseball, Clu Clu Land, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, Duck Hunt, Excitebike, Golf, Gyromite, Hogans Alley, Ice Climber, Kung Fu, Mach Rider, Pinball, Stack-Up, Tennis, Wild Gunman, Wrecking Crew, and, Super Mario Bros..- Wikipedia

Love this classic system- GRAB IT!5
If you have a chance to get your hands on this system- GRAB IT! The graphics in some games are so superior to their time. Games like Mario 1, 2, 3, Mega Man, Duck Hunt and Tetris are classics. Some of these games are even better than what the Wii has to offer!! If your kids havent tried this- GRAB IT!

I Love Old Nintendo5
I received the unit and the outside has little if no damage. The 2 remote controllers work fine, although one has some tape holding it together. The system has been giving me some problems, I had to take it apart and clean it and clean all the games. The old NES is extremely sensitive to dust. Seems to be working ok for now. I hope it holds out, it is 24 years old.
