Customer Reviews
(No) Me Veras Caer (por este cd)
If you want a clue as to what the fuss surrounding the beloved Argentine trio was all about or just need a concentrated dose of Soda to bring on a trip, this compilation is for you. Otherwise, I can see no reason for a fan to own this rather skimpy collection. Yes, all the studio albums are represented on Me Veras Volver but if you want to go the compilation route, you're better served by Chau Soda (Sony-1997), a 2 CD set that digs a little deeper, thus giving a better idea of what the band was like. However, it does not include any tracks from Soda's brilliant swan song Sueño Stereo (BMG-1995)--points for Me Veras Volver in that regard--but if you dig this band you should own Dynamo (Sony-1993) and Sueño Stereo on their own, anyway.
A Waste
While this release contains many great songs, it's too skimpy. It's worth it to buy the complete albums "Signos," "Cancion Animal," "Dynamo" and "Sueno Stereo."
Great Compilation, Not their Best
Let me first start by saying that I am a a huge fan of Soda Stereo. Nevertheless, for you the reader of this review, it would be unfair to rate this album higher than 3 based on this fact alone. The reason is simple: this album contains a pretty basic compilation of their hits. Great music, just not a great compilation. If you want this CD just because of the aditional content you get from their website, go for it. You will not be disappointed. However, if you want a far better starting point and listen to how this band became the STANDARD by which other 'Spanish Rock' bands were measured, then you need to get 'Chau Soda'. THAT CD is BY FAR the best compilation they have and one you are sure to really enjoy.
One more thing... If you want anything related to their new tour, wait and see what they do with the material from the each stop. I would bet anything that the 'Me Veras Volver - Live' CD and DVD are eventually going to be available. Having seen them live in Miami on Dec/5/2007 was quite simply one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The Police (Reunion Tour) and U2 concerts would be my other choices and in no particular order.
Cheers
