Customer Reviews

Not very good value for money1
I bought this extended life battery for my SZ-470N exactly one year ago. I used it less than half the time since the stock battery is fine for most situations. Now, it lasts about 20 minutes on a full charge which with Vista, is about enough time to boot up and pull email. Forget lasting through a domestic flight, much less an international one (and the SZ laptop sucks too much power for most in-seat power systems). Even when this battery was new, I only got about 3 to 3.5 hours on a charge with normal Office applications, viewing PDF docs, etc. which was 50% more than the stock SZ battery which got 2 hours when new (and about 1 to 1.5 hours today). The VGP-BPL2C battery is now no longer providing enough uptime for me to bother including in my carry-on bag. By the way, be careful when shopping online as there are numerous fake BPL2C batteries out there which only claim 6600mAh and no doubt are pieces of junk even worse than the miserable excuse for a battery that Sony sells. I understand that Li-ion batteries have a finite life, but there is no reason Sony has to charge hundreds of dollars for a component which cost them less than 10 dollars to make in Japan (or China). If the battery cost $50 then maybe I wouldn't mind it crapping out before its one year anniversary. But having a list price of $399 and discounted to merely $250 it's a complete ripoff.

Not recommended1
This battery is very expensive and not worth the price. The battery that came with my laptop died in about a year, so I bought this one hoping that it would last longer. But it lasted only for a year. Very bad quality. Strongly not recommended.

Good item, way over priced though4
On Vista this battery gives me about 4.5 hours. Over priced but if you need extra hours on the go you need it. The old regular battery dies in 20 mins after I have had it for almost 2 years.
