Average customer review:Product Description
Using a variety of formats, collaborative art projects result in wonderfully complex pieces, and often provide the glue between artists within a community. Heavy on visual inspiration, Collaborative Art Journals and Shared Visions in Mixed Media covers various organizational structures for collaborative art projects, offers instructions and tips for organizing such ventures, and includes interviews with organizers and participants of collaborative projects, as well as a healthy smattering of techniques including how to create books that can be added to as they travel and how to devise various binding structures for different paper projects.

Editorial Reviews
About the Author
L.K. Ludwig (Zelienople, PA) creates art and chases her three small children around in a Victorian Foursquare in a very small town (pop. 4,023) in Western Pennsylvania. Many weekends are spent in the woods and at the river where family memories and art are made. With a strong belief in creating around what she knows—nature, parenting, love, and life—these elements seep deeply into L.K.'s artwork. Her work has been featured in a number of books and magazines and shown in various galleries. She is author of True Vision.
Customer Reviews
a good reference if you want to host your own collaborative project
Essentially a overview guide to hosting your own round robin or collaborative journal swap with quotes and snippets of conversation and some interviews from the artist who participated in the ones that are spotlighted in this book. There are pages after pages of photos from the resulting journals and books but there are no detailed explanations on the actual techniques or motivation behind the artworks shown. If you're looking for visual eye candy or ideas for themes for your own swaps then you'll like this book.
Soul Food
As someone who participates in round robin journal exchanges and collaborative photo journal works, I found this book to be inspiring. While this is not a "how to" guide to various mixed media work in the usual sense, it is a showcase of creative collaborations that sparked my creativity. The interviews with featured artists were a bonus as it added depth and structure to the many photos of various journals and books. I would highly recommend this new book by LK to anyone who is interested in round robins, exchanging art journals or other exchanges between artists. Besides being a feast for your eyes, it will be food for your imagination.
Glorious Images
From the nifty cover to the heavy paper to the descriptions of both the benefits and the pitfalls of collaborating, this book is a "Weiner" (winner in husband-speak).
Round-robins, swaps, mail art, and much more are covered, but most of all the hundreds of fabulous pieces in full color are what I loved most.... Even if you work as a solitary artist, in altered art, paper arts, fiber arts, or mixed media of any kind, you'll really like this book.
