In other words…it’s time for Christians to get off their comfortable seats near the back of the sanctuary get out in the world. About the Author

Craig Gross and J.R. Mahon are on a mission to inspire the people to get out of the pews. Too often Christians spend their time praying, talking, and being "spiritual" but not getting their hands dirty. When they're not writing a book or managing a booth at a porn convention (well, actually, especially then), Craig Gross and JR Mahon run the day-to-day operations of XXXchurch.com, a ministry to those caught in the sin of pornography. Both live in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

life changing5
This book changed my life!!! It forced me to look at the fact that I am a lazy Christian and its not okay. It is written in a really exciting way and it keeps you interested throughout the whole book.

I noticed someone complained about how the authors didn't seem very loving towards lazy Christians, but the authors were honest about that. And, just because they didn't like their lifestyle doesn't mean they didn't love them! Loving someone means wanting the most Holy thing for them, and being a lazy Christian isn't Holy!

And about the fasting, yeah they did not give very good advice on that. A 40 day fast is the longest fast in the Bible, and its probably a very bad idea to do one for your first fast. So, if you were inspired to fast by this book (which I was) do some more research.

I recommend this book to absolutely EVERYONE, because it is truly, truly life changing.

There is so much more to being a Christian than sitting inside of four walls...3
Starving Jesus: Off The Pew, Into the World is a dynamic look at modern churches. Craig Gross, and J. R. Mahon encourage, in fact demand that Americans get off their pew and submit their lives to Jesus.

I agree with a lot of what the author's say. However, they are lumping church goers in one pile. We are not all lazy. I can name many dear Christians that have touched my life. I can name many people that have stepped out of their pew and are living their lives for Jesus and they are church goers.

My other concern is the call for a 40 day fast. I think their challenge to fast for 40 days is dangerous. Before beginning such a monumental feat a person should consult their doctor. I think the author's missed the mark in Starving Jesus: Off The Pew, Into the World.

However, this book is right on the mark in the sense that Christians must take the Good News to the World. I am reminded of one of my favorite songs.

Go Into The World. Part of the lyrics are:

How will they hear that there's a God who loves them?
How can the blind regain their sight?
How can the lost find hope unless we tell them
We are to be as salt and light

Look to the fields, you'll see the harvest ready
Servants of God, we must obey
All of the world will know the Father loves them
If we will only point the way (Words and Music by Walt Harrah© 1987 White Wheat Music)

This is the message the author attempted to convey.

straight foward and in your face5
this is very blunt and in your face type of book. It was a excellant book, and they authors do not leave out their own struggles and sin. They will let you know how it is.
This book will help you realize the need to share your faith with out being preachy.
I would recommend Share jesus without fear also.
It is by William Fay.
