Customer Reviews
much better than my old one
I sprained my ankle playing basketball about 8 months ago. It healed pretty quickly and I started using an old ankle brace that I have. Then I had a doozy of a sprain on the same ankle about a month ago... WITH THE OLD BRACE ON. I didn't think that could happen. Somehow I hurt ligaments and tendons on both sides of the ankle, high and low. X-rays showed no breaks though. I'm just now starting to play again. I bought this McDavid Lightweight model and have been very impressed with it. It's a sturdy material that gives a lot more support than my old brace. And it has the steel stays for even more support. It doesn't feel like it hurts my "quickness" any more than the old brace did. It pretty much keeps the ankle from turning but allows you to extend it without too much resistance. It's a quality brace.
It works well!
From one who is 55. I have tried many elastic ankle supports, but this non-elastic laced support is the only one that does the job and does not cut off my circulation or make my skin sore rubbing. It does take more time to put it on and off, but it is well worth it. It fits well into an atheletic shoe. I have not tried it in a dress shoe, but think it would be a crowded fit. I typically wear custom orthodic arch supports, but I do not use them with the ankle support. The support tucks my arch up enough that my foot is fine without the arch support. It does not make my foot hot and the exterior does not soil easily and wipes clean. I liked it enough that I own both a white and black one. I have worn the ankle support doing ladder work for hours like cleaning the gutters and also while downing a large tree and hauling it off. It allows me to do things that would otherwise be painful or undoable.
My son loves these
My son wears these for football and basketball to offer his ankles more support. He loves them and I have heard no complaints. Every few weeks, I throw in the washing machine in a sweater bag. Great product.
