Customer Reviews

near perfect computer....4
I received my computer (HP Pavilion G60-120US 15.6-Inch Laptop), from Amazon, 4 days ago. I am very pleased!

The installed operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit and NOT the 64 bit as listed in the product specs. The 32 bit Windows Vista is preferable because there are only very few software conflicts when installing some of my favorite software applications. There are, as yet, only very few 64 bit software applications that have been written (however, 32 bit apps will run on 64 bit systems - BUT NOT ALL).

Overall, this computer is a masterpiece.
Large screen, that looks even bigger (wider) than 15.6 inches (diagonal) because it has a smaller vertical profile (768 vertical pixels). The screen is utterly flawless and brilliant. Graphics display beautifully and DVD's (movies) are extraordinary on this screen.

The sound system is very adequate (quite good) and connects easily to external speakers. The internal speakers are very good (Altec Lansing) and provide pleasing (adequate +) audio for movies, games and music.

The keyboard is comfortable and sturdy (full size) and also includes a numeric keypad which is unobtrusive.

The dual core processor (2Ghz) is fast, especially with the 3 gigs of installed ram and 1 meg (L2) cache.

Wireless connectivity is easy using the build in Wireless LAN.

Windows Vista is a formidable operating system. It includes many security and other enhancements that were lacking in Windows XP. If you have been using Windows XP then there is a very slight 'learning curve' to familiarize yourself with the new features of Windows Vista. At first, I was a bit frustrated with Vista, but as I continued to explore the operating system I quickly became comfortable with it. Overall Windows Vista is excellent and very stable.

The computer is very fast. Battery life can be stretched to about 2 hours (word processing with wireless turned off) using the various power settings. A spare, higher capacity battery, is recommended if you are (typically) not near an electrical outlet.

I highly recommend this computer. It's profile is larger (wider by about 1 1/2 inches) than a standard 15.2 or 15.4 inch (screen) laptop because of the smaller vertical screen size. In other words, the smaller vertical profile adds dimension to the width.

It has 3 USB-2 ports, a card reader, monitor out, phone jack, wired DSL port. (Also, an HDMI port to connect to a monitor or newer TV with an HDMI port).

The CD/DVD (rewritable) drive seems a bit flimsy, however, most do.

The overall quality is excellent. Also included is a built-in webcam and a large assortment of software (only some of which is trial software).

I understand that this review is not 'in depth', however, I am not an 'in depth' user (I use Photoshop, web browsing, graphics editing and design, e-mail and a few games).

I give this machine 4 1/2 stars considering the very reasonable price and overall excellent (above par) quality.

The only criticism is battery life and the somewhat flimsy (typical of laptops) CD/DVD drive. Everything else is superior.

A great computer for a very good price.

Great Buy4
I recently purchased this computer and could not be happier. It performs well and it's one of the fastest laptops I have ever seen! AMD has really perfected the dual core processor. The 3GB of RAM and the Nvidia Graphics chip really make highly visual software fly. I use to be a gamer and on occasion still delve into some of them. I know that laptops are not generally adequate enough to play some of the high end games at high quality, but just for fun I tried one out. Not only did it run the game at an astonishing speed, but with the highest detail. Needless to say I was impressed.

I only gave this computer 4 stars, which can easily be given 5, because the built in camera is low quality, which my cell phone is even better, so I would have figured HP could do a little better. If you are just going to use it for messaging, then it's perfect. Vcasting would maybe be another story. Also, I gave it 4 stars because one of the programs I installed didn't work at first. It took couple of minutes to get working properly and did become frustrating, but it did work and continues to work just fine. It was a one time occurrence and wasn't a huge deal.

Runs very cool and looks completely flawless. The last time I saw a screen with this much clarity and crispness, I was staring into a top of the line Mac.

Wonderful Laptop!5
This is a great Laptop. I've had it for 3 months now. I'm using mine while deployed in Iraq and it is AWESOME! The best part is the brightness of the screen and also how loud the speakers are. I dont even have to plug in any additional speakers like I had to do for my previous Dell laptop. I mostly use it for online school and for music. The computer is very fast and I dont forsee any problems with it. The only thing I would reccommend is buying an extra battery because it doesnt last long at all. But what laptop does?
