Stanley had the clever idea to mount a flashlight on a tripod for hands-free operation. This comes in handy if you're trying to do repair work during a power outage, for example, or doing wiring work in a crawlspace.

This flashlight is sturdy and well-made: tripod legs are made of durable anodized aluminum, and the lamp head is a graphite ABS composite with a shatter-resistant polycarbonate lens. True to its name, the MaxLife2 369 will run through batteries much less quickly than similar incandescent models thanks to the energy-efficient LED bulb (the manufacturer claims it will give you a run time of over 200 hours on nine AA batteries). When you start to approach the 200th hour, a low-power indicator lets you know when it's time to change the batteries. You can switch between high and low lighting intensities, and the multi-position head lets you aim the light where you need it (this is especially handy in tripod mode). NIce, but I have some suggestions
This light performs as advertised, looks nice, but it could use sturdier parts. The casing for the light should be heavy duty, not cheap plastic. As for the spacer that hangs down, I hate it. It's too long and too flimsy. Poking it with my finger I feel like the thing is going to break off. It should be half its length, as it sometimes gets in the way. I'd rip it off if the spring mechanism for the legs wasn't there.
But that is only a minor problem compared to how useful this light is. And I absolutely love the fact that you can use it with 3, 6, or the full 9 batteries. Rechargeable batteries with lower voltage don't dim the intensity of the light at all, another big plus.
I can't wait for the next version of this light to come out. Ultra Heavy Duty, I hope. But I'd still recommend this light to anyone who works alone and doesn't have an extra pair of hands to hold the light for them.

Beam not as bright as it should be with 9 batteries. I've had brighter beams with 2 batteries.
