Dé jà vu
You do not need this book for the CFA. When you pay for your tests, you are forced to purchased their set of books specifically designed for the CFA program. In fact, the institute will tell you not to purchase the source books from which their set of books was derived.
As for this new edition, it is not materially different from the previous edition. The difference in the new edition is that the learning outcome statements have been removed as well as the the excercises and chapter summaries. This was a big mistake. How useful would a mathematics book be without the many exercises? It wouldn't. Those omitted features are what actually made the books appealing.
You'll notice in the paid editorial description that there is a reference to a workbook with the missing features to which I alluded in the previous paragraph. It is true that the workbook contains those feature, but now they have you purchasing two books.
The best strategy, if you really want the book, is to purchase it on the secondary market for a very low price.
Very dense and informitive read
This text book is well worth the price. It is a very dense read and has about everything you need to know about the initial steps to fixed income analysis. Fabozzi writes so it is easy to read, although there is tons of information. I recommend this purchase.
Excellent book for CFA
This book is virtually essential for the CFA exam, particuarly on the part of fixed income securities. Without this book, I couldn't grasp the difficult concepts of fixed income securities. The vivid and practical examples help me a lot.
