Product Description

Comprehensive preparation for the Graduate Management Admission Test begins with an overview and introduction to the GMAT, which is a computer-adaptive test. A diagnostic test with answers precedes an extensive “Correct Your Weaknesses” section, which presents separate chapters on essay writing, reading comprehension, sentence correction, critical reasoning, and math. Two full-length practice tests with questions that reflect recent GMATs come with answers, analyses, and directions for evaluating the test taker’s score. The manual’s concluding section discusses business school basics, with advice on choosing a school, coping with the application procedure, financing a business school education, and entering the job market.

    good overall.great for math3
Overall I consider this book OK. BUT if you are weak in math..this book has the most comprehensive overview on math. Best compared to Crackin, Kaplan, Dummies, OG. The other sections I simply used for additional practice and I did not find their explanations to be anything special. I like that they give you a good list of "things to memorize" and they rate the level of difficulty of each question. If you need additional Math practice w/ some detailed explanations this is a great resource. I also recommend for those math impaired(like myself) to invest in a math overview book. I bought a used copy of "Math Smart" well worth my time & money! It will take you about 6 hours to work through "Math Smart" but it is worth it to refresh you mind. It does not offer GMAT practice questions but it does cover most topics tested.

Full of mistakes and the CD fails1
The book gets one star, rather than zero, because the basic math review was worth the information. However, it's easier and cheaper to find that information for free on the net.

The practice problems were full of errors, both in the math and English sections, though the later was much worse than the former. They used illogic and misreading of clearly printed text in supporting incorrect answers.

I thought that was bad, then I turned to the CD. The problems weren't proofread. Many math problems had missing labels on images. Meanwhile, the English problems had incorrect or missing underlining of sentence correction problems, grammatical errors and other basic issues. Even worse, the long reading comprehension texts and questions were all jumbled, as the tests kept jumping back and forth between texts rather than giving all questions for a text immediately after the text.

The interface was poor and coding characters kept appearing on the left-hand side. I finished one section of a test just as someone called and needed me to head somewhere. I couldn't save the test status and it lost the information. The next two times I tried taking the tests, both of the CAT test froze and couldn't be completed. The second test did so on the fortieth problem of the English section -- after I'd wasted hours. I could never complete, and therefore couldn't even score, either test.

Nobody should by a Barron's book. The people behind it seem to either not know or not care about how to create a proper practice environment.

I am actually not very happy with this book. The review is very confusing and explaining math and verbal together, which I find hard to follow.
