A poignant and satisfying story of hope, Kimberla Lawson Roby's One in a Million beautifully shows us the difference between what we think we want and what we actually need to be truly happy.
Kennedi Mason thinks she's the luckiest woman on earth. She loves her job, she has a wonderful best friend, and she's been married for ten years to her soul mate. There's nothing she can think of that could make her life any better.
Then one fateful day Kennedi receives a piece of news that will turn her world upside down. She's excited about it, and she knows that her husband, Blake, will be over the moon. He has always dreamed of this one thing happening, and she can't wait until he comes home so she can tell him.
But when she sees Blake that evening, he has a special announcement of his own. It shocks Kennedi into silence and wipes the admission she was planning to make right out of her mind. In an instant, her life and her marriage have changed, but not at all in the way that she had expected.

Never in a Million Years
Kimberla Lawson Roby brought it with a bang in One In A Million. Kennedi Mason thinks life is great and could not get any better. That is, until she finds out some great news that she thinks will make her life that much more fulfilling. She cannot wait to share the news with her husband. But he has some news that he wants to share first. Both announcements will make a strong impact on the rest of their lives.
This is Roby's first novella and she did a great job. It was short, full of entertainment, and to the point. Some of these events, you do not think would happen in a million years. Well they all happen in One In A Million. Her fans will love this read. I definitely recommend it.

"...Chance Of A Lifetime!"
Kennedi Mason thinks that she has the perfect marriage with her husband Blake. After years of hoping and dreaming about this special moment, Kennedi can't wait to share the good news with her husband...news that will change their lives for the better. But when Blake gets home, he has some news of his own that will turn Kennedi's world into a tailspin. The aftermath of Kennedi and Mason's announcements will set forth a series of events where lies and betrayal are uncovered. Kennedi will soon find out that perception is not reality.
One in a Million is an intriguing novella by Kimberla Lawson Roby. Roby hooks the reader in from the first page beginning with Kennedi's good news. As you start reading the first few pages, you will think that you know what Kennedi's news is until you get to the last few sentences at the end of the first chapter. The jaw-dropping twist comes so early in the story that readers will be flipping the pages trying to find out what's going to happen next. You will also see how Kennedi saw only what she wanted to see in regards to her marriage. Fans of Roby's previous novels will see a small cameo appearance by the Rev. Curtis Black in this story, but this novella isn't about him. One in a Million is dramatic and insightful. Kimberla Lawson Roby once again brought a story that her legion of fans will enjoy.

QUICK SUMMER READ
I've read all of Kimberla Lawson-Roby novels. This one was just an ok book that I read in 2 days. This story line can happen to anyone...Bad marriage, best friend, no good relatives, greed, and a large amount of money. Roby also mentions very quickly Rev. Curtis Black, his wife and kids. When I got to this part of the novel I said oh no, not again. Nothing else can be said about this man, please shut him down for good. I guess she put his character in as a teaser to make sure we read the entire book.
