Looking for a great camping/surval knife?
I was looking for a tactical knife, you know, like a WWII Ka-Bar. Those are OK, but now a collector's item, and appear more like a killing tool or trench knife. I searched several places and found the Gerber LMF 2. Gerber certainly has a reputation in the knife business. There is no doubt that this knife comes with that pedigree. One piece of forged steel is always a plus for knives. The knife itself is very durable and fits a hand very well. It could be used for a variety of things. I haven't used it to open cans nor have I used it to dress a deer, although one could use it for either and more. My intention to respond to an incredible emergency will be in a professional manner. I purchased this knife specifically for use as an intended tactical tool as part of my 'kit'. When the knife is fully holstered into the sturdy high impact plastic sheath it requires some effort to remove the knife. I find that to be a plus. An added part of the sheath purchase is a sharpening pull tool 'built into' the sheath. A hole at the end of the handle is located well for a lanyard. The end is designed to use as a hammer or car window breaker. Overall, the knife is designed as a serious tool and it makes quite an impression that it is. I noted that I had been given an Amazon.com gift certificate for Christmas, and this reduced the purchase price. It made it easy to spend the money for this high quality, upscale item.
