Customer Reviews
simple, rugged, easy to read under extreme circumstances
i'd owned this model before it quit about 2 months ago. the previous watch lasted about ten years, backpacking through the canadian wilderness, canoeing through most of the major rivers with rapids in maine, and even through the high sierras. it even survived my being hit by a car whilst on a bicycle [that collision threw me onto the ground and broke my wrist.]
this watch seems to have survived the first month of the same kind of abuse being none the worse for wear.
the things that i love about this watch:
1. simplicity. just the time, ma'm. nothing about pushing any buttons.
2. the digits and the hands are huge and well-illuminated [time release phosphor coating on them.] it's wonderful to be able to read the face without reading glasses, if you wake up in your tent and it's pitch black and freezing cold. and you don't have to use your other hand to push a button on the watch for light.
3. the velcro band works very well. the band on my first watch never needed to be replaced.
the only downside was the bezel, which is embossed in the manner of rotating bezel dive watches, with markings for 15, 30, 45, and 0/60 minutes. this is mere decoration; contrary to the watch's description in the catalog, the bezel does not rotate. for a watch that is the essence of honest and straightforward in every other manner, this misleading marking -- the watch's dressing up as something that it isn't -- was very disappointing.
BUYER BEWARE! READ!!!
reason 1 why i am returning this watch.
I just recieved this watch today. I was suprised to see that the bezel is fixed, and does not rotate, making it useless and purely for aesthetic purposes.
Reason 2 is that it doesnt have a screw in case back or even a screwed plate, it simply pops off with a butter knife, like those cheesy 6 dollar watches you can buy for 8 bux.
VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS WENGAR WATCH, i expected so much more comming from an "Authentic swiss made" product...
Timezone returned my phone call very fast and issued me an RMA, im off to the post office right now
