Customer Reviews

The Niesen Hiker Tent.. definitely waterproof!!4
This is a great tent once you figure out how to set it up. Naturally,I didn't do a practice run before I left for my trip, but luckily I had lots of help at the site where I pitched my tent. I liked the cross ventilation this tent provides and it was certainly adequately waterproof. That got tested more than once. For the price this is a great tent, and if you are hiking you couldn't do better. For me, I guess as I really spent 4 days in the tent I would have liked a tent with more headroom;perhaps something I could actually stand up in. I was able to store my boots under the exterior flap and keep them dry. Getting in and out was easy with the large access door. Overall the Swiss Gear Niesen Hiker is a really good tent and I do recommend it.

Poles break easily1
We bought two of these for our recent family camping trip to replace a huge Coleman tent. It set up quickly, just the right size for two people in each and looked great. However, the center pole broke on one of the tents the second night and then the other tent had both its side poles broke a day later. The first tent had more breaks and finally collapsed four days into the trip. The other tent barely stood with more breaks. The collapse was even after reinforcing the initial break. We checked into a nearby hotel the rest of the way. Obviously, I do not recommend this tent.

Great looks, but horrible quality1
The tent looks great and it is very practical for a 2 persons tent. We bought this as a replacement for a coleman tent we had for 10 years. The first night after we used it, the center fiberglass pole broke, we even bought a second pole as replacement and that broke too. It seems that the way the tent was build does not allow for the center pole to bend such that it would resist. Very good looking, but impossible to use... we had to return it.
