Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
YA-The strength of these books is their stunning full-color photographs, all of which are distinct and well labeled. Both guides begin with general overviews of the title animals and then present the histories and characteristics of various breeds in alphabetical order, within logical groupings. Simon & Schuster's Guide to Dogs (1980) and Simon & Schuster's Guide to Horses and Ponies of the World (1988, both S.&S.) have more substantial texts, but their photographs lack the clarity found in these handbooks. Useful additions.

THE BEST HORSE BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!5
My name is Katherine. I go to horse camp every summer. At camp we need to know a lot about horses. So 2 years ago, I bought this book. Now I'm one of the smartest kids at camp. This book includes all the horse breeds, all the pony breeds, Horse color, Horse History, Horse relatives and much, much more. BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent Book for Breed Identification and History5
I am so glad that I purchased this book. I needed a reference guide to help me identify different breeds of horses and ponies for the Photo Model Horse Shows that I have been participating in. Since I will eventually judge a show, I needed to be prepared to classify horse breeds from the photograph entries that will be sent to me. It is easy to read, the photographs are lovely, and there were only a few breeds not listed. Good job!

Very Useful4
I have been riding for ten years and still look back on this book to brush up on my horsemanship! I would recommend it to anyone who is beginning riding or is just getting a horse to have at home. The only thing missing from this book is riding information. It covers many breeds and why they are signifigant, and beginners horsemanship.
