The gold standard. This book rocks. You'll use it alot.

I've got Guyton and Sherwood as well, but Ganong's book is well written, has just enough info without being confusing. Sure, Guyton is good also, but can be confusing at times and in parts conflicts with other texts. Get Ganong, and borrow Guyton from the library when you need it.

This is an awesome book. Getting a bit old, but still strangely current. It was ahead of its time when published, and its a shame they're not putting out another addition. I also got Kumar & Clark which I found to be overrated. Harrisons and Cecil's a nice of course, but I like this one the best.

The "Bible" of clinical examination. This book is good from first year all the way through to physician - the medicine reg's at our hospital all use this book. Excellent.

Great title. Concise overviews of all the major medical problems - its amazing how they can make things so simple, without dumbing it down. I find this book provides a good overview first before tackling the heavier books.

Another goodie from the "At a Glance" series.

OK, many people will tell you to buy Rang & Dale's book, which is good but is frustrating in that it never goes into enough detail. Goodman & Gilman goes way over the level of detail you need to know in first and second year med, but I would rather have an authorative, complete explanation of something, than the half explanations of Rang & Dale. Personal opinion.
