This is a really nice book. While called "evidence-based", there quality of the evidence isn't superb for each topic. On the other hand, this is a valiant effort to apply the principles of the Rational Clinical Examination to the patient's symptoms and history.

Nonetheless, you learn a lot of trivia behind many clinical observations which actually helps you remember the clinical findings. Suggest you don't use this without a copy of the Rational Clinical Examination or Evidence-Based Physical Diagnosis.

Too often, delivering bad news becomes an essential bedside skill. While the title of this book includes "seriously ill" patients, "bad" news is in the eyes of the beholder. Telling a patient they have hypertension or diabetes is certainly "bad" news, and the skills in this book generalize well to the not seriously ill patient.
