This Tanita scale and body fat monitor helps you get a more accurate picture of your overall health by going above and beyond standard scale functionality. Using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), the monitor calculates body fat percentage by sending a safe, low-level electrical signal up through the feet. The 2-1/4-inch, dual-line LED monitor shows both weight and body fat percentage readings at once, so you can track and understand fluctuations in your body. The scale also shows where your readings fall in relation to a healthy range.
Designed to adjust for age, gender, and height, the scale stores profiles and previous readings for up to two users. There's also a "guest" option and a weight-only setting. It has a 300-pound capacity and delivers readings in 0.2-pound and 0.5% increments. Suitable for ages 7-99 and body types ranging from the inactive to the moderately active, it is not appropriate for athletic, pregnant, or pacemaker-wearing individuals. A moderate amount of initial programming is required; thereafter, operation is as easy as tapping a few buttons with your toes. The unit runs on four AA batteries and measures 11-3/4 by 12 by 1-1/2 inches. --Emily Bedard

Wonderful & Accurate Scale
I read the reviews on the BF679 scale. I read reviews on alot of different scales but this one had the best said about it. I have now received my new scale and it gives a whole new meaning to stepping on the scale. It seems to give me more incentive knowing my body fat is way too high along with my weight. Health becomes a bigger issue when I see the numbers on this scale. It was easy to program and instructions were easy to understand. I would recommend this scale to anyone who is losing weight or thinking of losing weight. It is wonderful and so worth the price (which I bought on sale through Amazon) I belong to Weight Watchers and there was only 2 tenths difference between this scale and the one used at my meeting weight in. Also, it registers the same weight if I would happen to step on it 3 or 4 times in a row, no jumping a pound up or down. Try it, you'll like it! Judy
So worth the money!
I have to say, I love this scale. I wish I had bought it 7 weeks ago when I began my diet so I would know how much body fat I've lost.
This scale is very easy to operate and read. I like the accuracy to .2 pounds (instead of .5 or 1.0 you see in other digital scales), but most of all, I love the fact that I can step on it 10 times in a row and get the same reading. That alone makes it worth buying.
Very accurate for checking weight. Pretty good for fat %.
In the process of owning this scale (Tanita BF679), I have lost about 30 pounds. My old scale (not digital) was inaccurate. It would show a different weight everytime I got on. Also, it wasn't even close to my gym's accurate scale. This Tanita is as accurate as my gym's scale. I weigh myself everyday.
Overall, I am very happy with the accurateness of the scale. The fat monitor is accurate. I would estimate that it is within 2% of actual. If you want a fat monitor that is within 1% of accuracy, go with the Tanita BF 578 ($99). This was recommended by Men's Health magazine and they said that it was within 1% of their water dunk tank results. Water dunk tanks are the most accurate measurement for fat. Water dunk tanks disregard the water in your body. In comparison, the Tanita and all other body fat monitors use electricity and water in your body to calculate fat. Therefore, if you drink lots of water before getting on the scale, you will get a lower fat percentage. That's why the instructions call for you to weigh yourself for fat 3 hours after waking up and after having a meal. (For consistency).
Keep in mind that it will cost more than twice as much to get that extra 1% accuracy with the Tanita BF 578 ($99). I don't need super exact fat percentages, just a trend. I've lost about 7.6% body fat.
The battery (included) has lasted four months without problems. This is the best scale I have owned and would buy another in a heartbeat.
I would definitely recommend this product, Tanita BF679, to any dieter needing an accurate way to check their weight.
