Customer Reviews

Not even worth the plastic it's recorded on.1
Let's get real about Destroy What You Enjoy. I own plenty of CDs, and BY FAR this one is among the worst.

It's not that I dislike this genre of music; for instance, I greatly enjoy bands like Bad Religion or the Offspring. I even liked Powerman 5000's last CD, Transform. It was solid rock with memorable songs.

This, however, is an absolutely horrid cesspool of baseless noise. It's completely lacking in any meaningful substance. Catchy choruses, nice hooks, or interesting guitar work? You won't find any of that here. Basically, it annoyingly drones on and on without substance from each track to the next in a formulaic manner.

A fraction of the songs lead up to what you think might be something good, just to let you down like a audio kick to the balls. The title track is a good example of that; you start to think it's not too bad, until you hear Spider repeatedly yelling "DESTROY! DESTROY WUT YOO NJOY!" over the chorus' bland, weak guitar riff.

There's absolutely no redeeming value in this album, and to be honest anybody who tells you otherwise is simply a fanboy and/or a sycophant. After this one, it's likely those are the only fans left.

You might think me rambling, but it's seriously that bad. I'm only trying to express how poor an effort this really is. If I can keep one person from paying money for this album, my review has been worthwhile.

Mentioning which... I want my fifteen dollars back, Spider.

My favorite PM5K album...5
Yes, this is my favorite album from PM5K so far. I don't care if it doesn't sound like their old stuff. Hell, their old stuff doesn't sound like their older stuff. I don't care how many times a band changes their sound as long as they continue making songs I like. I rate this album a five because it is their album with the best "songs-I-enjoy to songs-I-don't" ratio from them. It does not matter whether my favorite song is on the album or not (It happens to be with this album). Forget what everyone says about this album, Powerman is ACTION ROCK; and that is precisely what this album is. Just about every song on here makes you wanna move to it. Go see em' live and I guarantee you will wanna go and buy all of their albums!

Order of favorite PM5K albums:

1) Destroy What You Enjoy
2) Anyone For Doomsday?
3) Transform
4) Tonight The Stars Revolt!
5) Mega!! Kung-Fu Radio

Top 5 Favorite PM5K Songs:

1) Return To The City Of The Dead
2) Supernova Goes Pop
3) Murder
4) Standing 8
5) Action

Not that great but not horrible like some people say3
I've been a fan of PM5K since Mega!! Kung Fu Radio and to this day I still think that's their best album. I don't care how popular they got from the album Tonight The Stars Revolt! which is a awesome album itself but I just think Mega!! Kung Fu Radio was the real PM5K before they started the whole space thing, but hey that was cool in it's own right. It's too bad that Anyone For Doomsday? was never realeased because Spider thought it was too much of the same. It was a decent album but very rushed and short. So PM5K stripped down their sound with Transform and went with something new and more just rock n roll. I liked Transform, thought it was decent but by far my least favorite record until now. Destroy What You Enjoy is even more stripped down then the previous record and has more of a punk vibe to it. On my first listen I was like okay I'm done with PM5K but I've given more chances and I still don't care for it that much but it's not horrible or anything. If I remember correctly I think Spider is the only orginal member of the band so it's kinda hard to keep the same sound. It's sad that Heroes And Villains is the best song off the cd and it's only a live track. When I first heard that song I was excited because I thought PM5K was gettin heavier but then when I bought the cd and the whole cd sounded different so I was kinda pissed, but all complaints aside..it's not an amazing record but decent and if your a true fan of this band then give it a few more spins before you piss all over it, because it's growing on me slowly. And if this is what Spider wants to do, then so be it. People's tastes change over the years and if you can't accept that that your closed minded.
