Bad Experience with it !!!
The author try to explain a lot of concepts we can find in any other specilized book, so the book try to cover a lot but sincerilly it doesn't.
It doesn't come with the data-sets, you're refered to a web page and an instructor adress that seems not to work, i wrote to the support department and they try to help me but the answer was: "Sorry, but this book is intended to be use by students of an specific university, so we can not bring you the URL adress neither the password requiered to download the data sets of the examples in your textbook"
It's not fair to sell a book and tell everyone it comes with digital examples to work on, when there's nothing of it, if you're not from the "specific university" it was written to. It's a book to learn how to use a software, it's not supposed you will learn how to use it just by reading..... You've got to practice!!!!

The author left his e-mail adress on the book so you can get in touch with him, but i wrote an e-mail like two or three months ago and by the time i'm still waiting for a reply.

Bad experience with it!!!

I am an experienced Civil 3D user who also performs training. I was looking for a book to use in class.

I went through it twice and found it very good. I was able to work around the numerous errors in the text and in the sample files.

Using the book in class is a different story. My students are inexperienced and need a book with few or no errors. When the book says west, most students stop if west doesn't work. They don't think maybe the book really means east and it's just a typo.

For most Land Desktop users who are looking to learn Civil 3D, if you're experienced and can find your way through some misdirection from the text, you'll like this book. It's very informative. If you are new to this stuff, you might not want to go it alone with this book.
