About the Author
Jeanne Stone completed her undergraduate studies and earned her elementary teaching credential at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She earned a Masters of Art in Education at Long Beach State University.
Mrs. Stone has over ten years of elementary teaching experience in bilingual classrooms in California. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Arvin teaching second and third grades. She later taught grades two through five in Santa Ana. She became the elementary Language Arts Specialist in Santa Ana where she coordinated writing training for the district and implemented the reading/language arts textbook adoption.
Mrs. Stone has presented writing process workshops through the UCI Writing Project and has been involved in the UCI Young Writers Project as a teacher. She has also been a national presenter for Kagan Cooperative Learning specializing in integrating cooperative learning strategies in the language arts classroom.
Since beginning at UCI in 1994, Mrs. Stone has taught numerous methods courses and seminars in the Multiple Subject Credential Program and also served as interim coordinator in the 2001-2001 academic year. Mrs. Stone has stayed actively involved in elementary classrooms by teaching math and language arts lessons in her sons classrooms and by substitute teaching.
Currently, Mrs. Stone teaches both Mathematics and Language Arts methods classes in the Multiple Subject Credential program and supervises student teachers in the field. She is involved with the Teaching Event serving as PACT Trainer of Trainers. She also teaches classes in the Education minor program.
