Amazon.com Product Description
The beat goes on with Toshiba's Gigabeat U-series portable media player. The silver device--which offers 2 GB of internal flash memory--is built for audio and photo playback, with support for MP3, WMA, and WAV audio formats and JPEG still formats. All told, the Gigabeat stores up to 20 hours of audio, enough for most road trips or gym workouts. As an alternative, you can also store a host of data files in the memory, in effect turning the Gigabeat into a portable flash drive. Need to empty your camera's memory card so you can take more photos? Not a problem.

Navigation is a breeze thanks to the "plus" touch interface. With one or two clicks, you can select a track, adjust the volume, or show off your favorite photos. More significantly, the pictures look crisp and vivid thanks to the 1.1-inch color OLED display, which isn't all that big but provides a nice 96 x 96 pixel resolution. Other details include six equalizer presets, a USB 2.0 interface for high-speed data transfers, an FM tuner with 10 station presets, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Gigabeat is outfitted with a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to 20 hours of listening per charge. And at 1.4 by 3 by 0.4 inches (W x H x D) and 1.5 ounces, the device fits easily in a pocket or purse. The Gigabeat also carries a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

Great Introductory MP3 Player5
I wanted to get my daughters an MP3 player for christmas but I didn't wanted to spend a lot of money. The Toshiba Gigabeat U is great. It has a 1" color screen w/ date & time display, an FM tuner, line in recording and can hold up to 1000 songs. It works seemlessly with Windows Media Player to transfer music to the player. The controls are easy to use and the sound is great. My daughters are 11 and 10 years old and they love it. If you want a nice quality MP3 player, but you don't want to drop a lot of cash, The Toshiba Gigabeat U is the way to go.

Love my Toshiba Gigabeat5
I literally agonized for a year over which type of mp3 player to purchase. I initially looked at getting an IPOD because there so many products that are made for it, but the draw back is that there is no FM turner on an IPOD. So I started looking into possible alternatives and came upon Toshiba who has gotten very good ratings from electonic websites. I am so glad I got the Gigabeat because I love it. It's easy to use and I have the best of both worlds, the FM turner and the songs I download.

Works in WIndows Explorer5
Just to clear things up for folks -- I did a drag & drop of a music folder onto the Gigabeat via Windows Explorer. No worries, works fine.
