Product Description

Curious about commodities?

If you're looking for a good book with an overview of futures, this one works.

FUTURES 101 tells how money is made and lost in today's fast-paced futures market and does so in an interesting style - part commentary, part verse, snippets rather than long chapters. Plus it does not try to sell you something or promise the moon.

This is all about commodity futures trading, a financial arena bigger than the stock market yet relatively unknown or understood.

Profits, pitfalls and dozens of subjects are covered in detail. Some examples even have sprinkles of trivia and smiles for clarity and to keep the reader awake.

Ordinary investors, professional investors, corporations, municipalities and pension funds make and lose money every day in the trillion-dollar futures business - FUTURES 101 explains how they do it.

An interesting side chapter analyzes the $104,926.00 profit made by Hillary Clinton many years before Bill Clinton was elected . This is an impartial, non-political look at the details of her trading and finds she did nothing wrong under the trading rules of the time.

Readers of FUTURES 101 are in four groups: new traders, potential traders, college students and people who are just financially curious.

This not a typical financial book and one reason is that the writing style is for folks who have a sense of humor and who like conversational reading.

FUTURES 101 is also used in private seminars, broker sales training, and college courses.

Order a copy today to learn more about this dynamic big money game or to fill in some knowledge gaps you may have.

Editorial Reviews

Review
"An excellent book for investors and non-investors alike." -- West Coast Review of Books

"Covers all the basics with wit and without excess jargon. The author neither encourages nor discourages trading in futures and doesn't have a 'system' to sell.

There is also an unbiased and excellent analysis of Hillary Clinton's success in trading commodities many years ago." -- Reader Comment

"Describes with simple detail in a language easy to understand the secrets of commodity investments and how they work." -- Rapport Magazine

"Especially recommended for potential commodity trading investors, students, and the non-specialist general reader with an interest in U.S. and global economic markets." -- Midwest Book Review

FUTURES 101 was named recipient of a 1998 Book of the Year Award by the North American Bookdealers Exchange. -- National book award

V.I.P Review: "FUTURES 101 is the most understandable book for explaining the basics about commodities that I've ever read." -- Welles Wilder

From the Author
I am pleasantly surprised and gratified by the interest and sales of FUTURES 101. Too many people lose money when trading and the main reason may be ignorance of how the system works. And the dangers involved. I am not associated with any brokerage or anyone in the futures business other than as a client, and when I first traded commodities some years ago I could not find a beginners book that explained things comfortably to me. The very few available were too technical or too abrupt and left me confused or unsatisfied. Later after some years of trading with mixed results I remembered the difficulties encountered in the beginning and since I had learned a fair amount about trading by trial and error, I decided to write a short explanation booklet to benefit others. I also wanted to write it in a style that would not put the reader asleep. The more I wrote the more I found needed to be covered and the result was a full book that has found an international sales niche, much of it through referrals. In summary, it was fun to write and I hope it benefits those looking to understand futures trading.

A req'd reading for "Futures 101" An Intro to Futures Trad'g5
This book is:
1) ONLY for non-futures traders looking to understand the art of commodity trading,
2) illustrating step-by-step of when, what, who, and how of futures trading,
3) depicting how you can win or loss BIG from futures.

This book isn't:
1) an advice on how to WIN,
2) a tool on how to beat the system.

Since I am a bystander looking to investing in the futures, this is a great book to begin. A perfect Futures for Dummies.

A good general overview of commodity futures trading.3
This book is for those who know nothing or virtually nothing about commodity futures. If you already know even a little about commodity futures, this book is not for you. It is just a foundation. You will not be ready to trade commodity futures after you read this book (and the author does not pretend that you will be), but you will be ready to go on to more in-depth research. The book is light, quick reading.

Futures 101: An Introduction to Commodity Trading4
A great book to start out with. The first few chapters were a bit basic, however the meat of the book is in the middle chapters. It offers great unbiased, factual information. While this book alone is not strong enough to start trading on, it lays the perfect foundation to build from. Definately recommeded for the beginning trader/speculator.
