Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
This manga—the fifth based on Hunter's immensely popular children's series—follows the adventures of the cat Sasha after she leaves the Tigerclan, horrified by Tigerstar's growing violence; it picks up where Warriors: Tigerstar and Sasha left off. Sasha wrestles with whether she should return to live among the housefolk or make a life for herself in the forest. Her travels take her to dangerous city streets, the suburbs and a boat, and allow her to make new friends. Along the way, she learns to value herself and trust her instincts. Hudson's artwork brings Sasha's emotional journey to life, showing each moment of fear, anxiety, contentment and joy. The cat's-eye perspective of many of the panels, in addition, add a dramatic, energizing element to the book. Jolley's story breaks no new ground, but he offers a nicely paced tale that should resonate with young adult readers struggling to find their own place in the world, as well as cat fanciers of any age. Girls may especially benefit from reading about Sasha's decision to walk away from the powerful Tigerstar. A twist at the end will leave fans eager for the next installment of Sasha's saga. (Jan.)

From School Library Journal
Grade 4–6—Sweet, sensitive Sasha leaves the forest and the ShadowClan after being betrayed by the cat clan's power-hungry leader, Tigerstar. Life without a clan for protection is difficult, though. Can she survive alone? The second volume in a graphic-novel adaptation of the popular series, this title should appeal to its fans, and the gripping plot may attract new ones. Though the cover claims that this is a "manga," the straightforward illustrations are drawn in a simple, realistic style. Purchase if the "Warriors" series is already popular.—Lisa Goldstein, Brooklyn Public Library, NY

Tigerstar and Sasha3
I really wasn't looking forward to this book, since the first one REALLY sucked, so I just bought it last week since I am obsessed with having every Warrior Cat book, no matter its rating. I was slightly startled to see that it was a bit better than I'd expected. Sure, it was, by far, nowhere close to a real Warrior book, but it had a kinda engaging plot line and left the reader with a bit of a cliffhanger, when she mentioned her kits being born. That's what I'm really looking forward to, seeing Hawkkit & Mothkit in Manga. Strangely, I read the summary of the next Sasha Manga and noticed that there will be a third kit called Tadpole. So maybe the books just go from dull, to okay, to good and it's going to get more interesting.
No, don't buy it, since it's honestly not worth 6 or 7 bucks for the slightly jacked-up drawings and small thickness, but you could borrow it from a friend or the library or buy it "for your Warrior Cat loving friend" and read it before giving it to them.
Hope this helped

I enjoyed reading this book and I thought it had the best storyline so far of all the Warriors manga besides the rise of Scourge.

My main beef with this and the other manga in the series is that the drawings need to be of higher quality. I want a visual feast when I open these books. The drawings don't seem to be much better than what you'd see in a Saturday comic strip. One of the reasons to get manga is to really appreciate the drawings and I don't think these are as of high a quality as they could be.

Also I think it would be nice if they would do colored manga rather than black and white. I know most comic books are black and white, but if the drawings were as they are, then it would add more interest.

I'm looking forward to reading the third one because I want to see Sasha's kits.

One thing I do like about the Tigerstar and Sasha series is that it really did draw me in to Sasha's story.

Keeps kids entertained and wanting to read more5
My daughter loves this book and all the other books in this series. I actually enjoy the book very much as well. Anything to keep her reading and as she enjoys these books she's going to venture out reading other books, so this has helped to get started on her reading path.
