Customer Reviews
cheap but dont believe the AA's mAh rating!
Pros:
1. They are much, much cheaper than others in the market.
2. Even if they are overrating the AA ones [see below] all that means that I will have to recharge them a little sooner. I am willing to take that over paying $ 3 to $4 per cell for other brands!!
3. AAA ones measure nearly 1000 mAh! They are rated at 1000 so they are good!
Cons:
I have a high end charger from Maha - MH-C9000 WizardOne Charger-Analyzer . It is able to tell exactly what the capacity of a battery is. I have tested at least 7 or 8 of my 25 or so Tenergy AA batteries. All measure around 1500 - 1600 mAh. Note that these batteries were bought in the last year or two. They are not brand new.
I even did many refresh cycles , even after a couple of break-in cycles [that is supposed to recover under used cells] the capacity does not increase.
Hence I can say for sure....they are overrating them.
By the way, my 3-4 year old energizer cells [2500 mAh] from Costco also test around 2000 - 2100 mAh on my analyser. So maybe age is a factor. But at least the energizers are closer to the 2500 they claim!
Not what they claim to be
I bought a set of these batteries and the AA batteries DO NOT rate at 2600 ma. Using a La Crosse Technology BC-9009 AlphaPower Battery Charger battery charger/tester these things measure out at between 1800 and 1900 ma. Other brands like Sanyo and Eveready measure out within a hundred milliamps of their rating, these are measuring 30% under! I've tested all 12 batteries and there's not a good one among them. The AAA batteries also measured low at 700 to 750 milliamps. If you're looking for high-power batteries these are not your choice. Unfortunately for me I ended up with a bunch of weak batteries.
Not 2600 mAh -- consider them to be 2000 mAh
I have repeatedly tested the capacity of the Tenergy "2600 mAh" AA cells using both a LaCrosse and Maha smart chargers. Of the dozen in this bundle, all 12 measure at 2000-2100 mAh capacity. Other brand 2600 mAh cells check out in the 2500-2600 range.
On the same metric, the AAA cells show about 1000 mAh.
The cells are quite good as 2000 mAh capacity. Just don't believe the 2600 mAh hype!
