Churchill, a British producer of tableware for more than 200 years, has thoughtfully created a pattern specifically for the celebration of the most food-focused of American family holidays--Thanksgiving--with a design transfer-printed from an early American copperplate engraving. The Thanksgiving Turkey soup tureen and its accessories are meant to be integrated with other matching pieces into a festive Thanksgiving table display. The tureen also offers a lovely way of serving cold punch, eggnog, or mulled wine or cider.

The turkey featured in the Churchill Thanksgiving Turkey design is highly detailed, as if from an antique natural history engraving; the bird stands in full-tailed display amid a cluster of ferns on the tureen lid, the plate, and in the bowl of the ladle. The plate's border and the sides of the tureen feature equally detailed drawings of forest flora: blackberries, acorns, oak leaves, and simple wild rose blossoms. The color palette includes soft blues, reds, golds, and greens in the muted tones of a hand-tinted photograph. There's a cutout in the lid for the ladle, and the ladle has a hanger hole for easy storage. The Churchill Thanksgiving Turkey pattern offers a wide range of matching pieces such as basic 5-piece place settings, napkin rings, a cookie jar, a teapot, and a creamer and covered sugar bowl, as well as other individual setting pieces.

Churchill earthenware is safe for use in the microwave and freezer; however, avoid rapid temperature changes by allowing dishes to make gradual transitions. Churchill pieces are also dishwasher safe; when hand washing, avoid abrasive cleansers and scourers.
