A Celebration of the Power of Teaching
There is a moment for most teachers when the lure of working with kids surpasses all logic: You know, you just know, that you are meant to teach. But in the day-to-day crush of details and bus duty, politics and paperwork, or kids without their homework for the eighth day in a row, life can erode passion and distract you from your sense of purpose. This collection of stories from teachers everywhere will remind you of those magic moments when a light goes on in the eyes of a child, when resistance breaks, when hearts connect—moments that make the challenges of teaching worth every second and remind you of why you are here in the first place.

A Celebration of the Power of Teaching -- Review
Stories of heart, stories of care, stories that make me proud that I belong to the teaching profession. -- Merrill Harmin, Ph.D.
There is a moment, I think, for most teachers when the lure of working with kids surpasses all logic: We know, we just know, that we are meant to teach. But in the day-to-day crush of details and bus duty, politics and paperwork, or kids without their homework for the eighth day in a row, life can erode passion and distract us from our sense of purpose. In Why I Teach, Esther Wright has compiled a collection of stories to brilliantly remind us of those magic moments when a light goes on in the eyes of a child, when resistance breaks, when hearts connect--moments that make the challenges of teaching worth every second and remind us of why we are here in the first place. -- Jane Bluestein, Ph.D.
Why I Teach is a must read for every teacher! After a good day at school, read one of these feel-good stories as a special treat. And on a bad day, these accounts of love and hope will re-inspire you to face tomorrow with a renewed belief in your ability to make a difference. As an added bonus, many of the stories contain great ideas for activities to do with your students to help them have confidence in themselves and in their ability to succeed. -- Frank Siccone, Ed.D.
Why I Teach is uplifting, inspiring, and genuine. It demonstrates the truth about what real teaching is and what it must be: connecting with the whole human being. -- Sandi Redenbach, M.Ed.

Teachers Say The Darnedest Things
Thank you for the delightful book. I am not a teacher, but I know many and know what a challenge teaching can be in this day and age. I loved the inspirational stories, but was entranced with "Labor of Love." It was a true analogy of what so many of my friends are experiencing. I hope you have the inspiration and time to write further on this subject.
Sweet Book!
This book is wonderful for:
new teachers
potential teachers
seasoned teachers
parents
anyone passionate about young children
This sweet book would make a FABULOUS and much appreciated gift!
I suggest buying a few and having them on hand. An inexpensive way to show encouragement and provide inspiration to someone you care about. Teachers give SO much of themselves, why not give a little something back?
Inspirational Stories
This is a short book of inspiring stories from various teachers (and some students). I found it to be encouraging, inspirational and interesting and recommend it to any teacher. I think it would make a great gift for someone who is just going in to teaching.
