The Poisoned Apple Indeed
My opinion: This is a very well-written story. It is easy to follow as events unfold and easy to see the correlation between the orchard and its workers and the US educational system. This is definitely something teachers and students need to read.

Great Read for Teachers
Loved it, loved it, loved it! As a teacher who has temporarily "hung up her gloves", I could relate to many of the trials and tribulations that Mason Beehinder, or Lefty, faced in her apple cultivating career. So many of the interactions recounted by Lefty were familiar, memories that brought both teary eyes and bursts of loud laughter. I have spent many hours pondering and discussing the problems I see with the current educational system, reading authors such as John Holt and John Taylor Gatto. Ms. Paine's The Poisoned Apple is a powerful literary addition to the discussion on the state of education today, a quick and engaging tale that is sure to invite others into the discussion and prompt some into action.

Never Read a Book Like This!
This book really does make you think. Everyone working and attending a school should read this. Parents especially. I liked that it was a quick read and had alot of symbolism. The author was creative and presented a sad truth in a way that deeply impacted me. I highly recommend this book.
