Kurosawa made several movies that people still talk about today - Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Ikiru. Of all his movies, Seven Samurai is still my favorite. Rashomon is close 2nd. This is the longest movie I've ever seen (more than 3 hours), but was fully engaged every minute of it.

Yasujiro Ozu made many great movies in his life. However, Ozu movies are acquired taste, just like sushi. We're so used to Western style of movies - action, twist&turn in plot, movie stars, etc. Ozu movies are not like that at all. Cameras are stationary. Plot is usually family-oriented. No surprise ending. What makes it so good? Start with Tokyo Story, then move onto others - they are all good!

No action. No change of scenery. Just 12 people locked up in a jury room on the hottest day of the year, discussing a seemingly insignificant murder case, about to decide on a fate of troubled abused teenager. #9 in IMDB top movies. How can that be? You decide.

I'm a horror movie fan to begin with. This movie tops the list of my all-time favorite horror movies. If you liked it, check out other Kubrick films (my other favorite Kubrick film is Lolita.)

In my opinion, Rashomon is one of the greatest movies ever made. I can't believe this was made nearly 60 years ago, but is still extremely relevant today.

Although principal actors are before my time, this movie allowed me to truly appreciate actors and actresses of previous generation - Jack Lemmon and Shirly MacLaine. Billy Wilder also made Sunset Blvd, Sabrina, Some like it hot, Double Indemnity, Seven year itch. All great movies. I happened to like Apartment above all else.

Lasse Hallstrom made some of the most memorable movies I've ever seen. Beside this one, I also loved What's eating Gilbert grape, Cider house rules, and Shipping news. Fantastic movie.

Critics say that this marks the beginning of modern cinema. I'm not the one to agree or disagree. However, it's a haunting tale of friendship, love and sacrifice.

I love Hitchcock movies. This is my favorite Hitchcock movie. All the action takes place in the confines of one apartment comples. Hitchcock still grabs your attention until the very end. Other Hitchcock films I love are Notorious, Vertigo, North by Northwest and Psycho. If you liked it, check out Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious.

To me, this is what a Spaghetti Western is all about, even more so than the Good, Bad and the Ugly. Claudia Cardinale is unforgettable in this movie, along with Jason Robard and Charles Bronson.

Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu made 3 great movies - Amores Perros, 21 grams and Babel. Of these 3, Amores Perros is my favorite. If you liked it, check out his other 2 movies. You'll love all three.

Of the modern Italian films, L'Avventura is my top pick. If you're a casual fan like myself, you can learn alot from watching a movie with commentary regarding what the director is trying to achieve with each shot.
