Easy introduction to plants for youngest students
Beautiful photographs and clear illustrations combined with easy-to-read text make for a good beginning book on plants for your early elementary aged child. We are using this as part of our homeschool unit on plants. It is a small book (about 6x8 inches) and only 31 pages long, but manages to pack a good amount of information into this small space. A short vocabulary list of new words (pistil, pod, pollen, seedcase, seed and stamen) is given at the end of the book.
Fantastic book to read to your preschooler
I just love this book and the entire series of "Rookie Read About" books by Allan Fowler. Thoughtful and simple explanations, and great photos. I started reading this book to my two year old son, and though it was a little early for him, he understood a surprising amount of it. He's still enjoying and learning from it at 3... gives us lots of things to talk about as he explores the world. His little friends enjoy these books too when I read to them. The series is probably best for children between 3 and 6.
Just the right amount of info
This series is great for your young scientists. It gives just the right amount of information on a topic accompanied by wonderful photos. It is great for building vocabulary as well.
This book focuses on the parts of plant including, pistil, stamen, petals, pollen, etc. It deals with fertilization rather than photosynthesis. It also covers how a seed is transported.
