With 11 millimeters of thick, dense padding in key areas, the Pearl Izumi Men's Attack Bike Shorts won't wage war on your package. A 9-inch inseam covers your thighs without bothering your knees, while the Attack Shorts' eight-panel, ergonomic design allows for smooth pedaling without fabric-bunching. Amazon.com Product Description
A Pearl Izumi favorite, the ergonomically designed eight-panel Attack cycling short delivers comfort, durability, and a great fit. Constructed using Sensor-Transfer fabric to keep moisture at bay, the short fits perfectly, with a seamless 3D Race chamois and dual-density padding to relieve pressure on sensitive nerves and absorb shock. The anatomical eight-panel design, meanwhile, features antimicrobial ions that help eliminate bacteria while regulating your temperature, so you'll stay comfortable throughout your ride. And riders will love the flatlock seams--which provide a chafe-free fit--and the cozy Spandex leg grippers. Other details include reflective logos for added visibility, a 9-1/4-inch inseam, and a fabric mix of 86 percent nylon and 14 percent Spandex.

About Pearl Izumi
More than 50 years ago in Tokyo, a father produced Japan's first bicycle racing apparel for his son, a promising racer. He named his soon-to-be-established company Pearl Izumi, derived from the gem "pearl" and an area of Japan known for its clear water ("Izumi"). Literally translated, the name means "fountain of pearls." Distributed in the U.S. since 1981, Pearl Izumi USA sponsored the U.S. national team in 1984 and several major trade teams during the mid-'80s, helping the company earn an almost cult-like following among cyclists. The Pearl Izumi USA line is dedicated to meeting the needs of the serious sport enthusiast, including not just cyclists but cross-country skiers, triathletes, duathletes, runners, and more.

Customer Reviews

Super comfort, great value, excellent performance5
(Preface: I'm a road cyclist with 30 years of experience. I ride 5 days per week in the summer, and 2 days per week in the winter. I'm not a racer, but I ride challenging rides in the farmland and mountains of Colorado.)

I've ridden dozens of shorts over the years, from many manufacturers. These Pearl Izumi shorts are my favorites of them all. They're comfortable around my waist and thighs, and they cushion my tush much better than other shorts. (Caveat: no shorts are comfortable on your tush after 50 miles.) I have several shorts in my closet, and I always reach for these first (so long as they're clean! :-)).

I've not tried the more expensive Pearl Izumis, but don't see the need to spend twice the cost of these when these function so well for me. I've tried plenty of cheaper store-brand shorts (e.g., Performance, Nashbar) and none has performed as well.

Great shorts4
I have bought these in the past and tried several others including Performance, Velowear and others. I seem to always come back to Pearl Izumi.

Nice shorts at a moderate price5
OK, you can pay more for shorts, but I don't know why you would. These shorts are comfortable, fit well, and last me two or three years of riding at about 4 - 5,000 miles a year. The price is moderate, but the quality is top notch. I just keep coming back to the Pearl Izumi brand for these reasons.
