Was good in Kenya
I did field research in Kenya for a couple of weeks, and brought this along with me. It was pretty amazing at doing the basic night/morning camp stuff. Its also interesting that a lot of animals cannot see red wavelength light, so you can use the filter to sneak up on creatures (good/bad in africa). Oh, and you don't lose your own night vision. Long battery life, fairly comfortable, and decently priced.
