From Booklist
It is eye-opening how a substance used to make white plumbing pipe can be transformed with unusual techniques (and combinations) by skilled artisans. Under Aimone's remarkable tutelage, polymer clay, called PVC here, becomes Italian millefiore beads, shiny abstract cuffs, intricate log-cabin quilt pins, and even calla lily-like earrings. Although other instructional polymer clay books exist, up to now all have focused on basic shapes and elemental design. The 14 selected artists do themselves proud by creating 33 items worthy of display and sale in any fine jewelry store. Instructions are almost complete, with enough visuals to follow--with the exception of a defined level of difficulty for each. And the pages upon pages of galleries showcase the beauties of a once-modest material. Barbara Jacobs

Inspirational 5
A quick thumb through told me this book was going to become my new favorite. The projects are quite inspirational and I found myself continuously saying "I have to try that". There could have been a few more step by step pictures, but the written instructions are clear and easy to follow so I can understand why they were left out. I was impressed that many projects were easy enough for beginners, yet there are others that will grab the more advanaced clayers like myself. The polymer clay basic section was short and sweet. That was another big plus in my eyes. I already have a couple dozen books that cover the basics, more basic, and yet more basics. This book is a definite must have for your personal libray!

Polymer clay graduates from craft to art5
Polymer clay has been seen as a "craft" medium for some time. In the past few years, polymer clay has begun to receive recognition as a true art medium due to the exceptional work of very talented artists. Some of these outstanding artists have come together to both showcase their work and provide lessons on creating some very beautiful pieces.

What is nice about this book is that it shows that even simple techniques can produce high-quality work. The techniques range from very basic to very complex (the cover art shows one of the more complex pieces). However, the eye for design, form and function enable us to envision our own work at this level. It's clear that all of us are capable of creating unique, beautiful and artistic pieces from polymer clay. This book will help us all get there.

You shouldn't pass this book up. It's a book that I'll reach for over and over for both inspiration and instruction.

buy it for your polymer clay friends - while the author doesn't have any projects of her own in the book, she's assembled some killer pieces from some of the best known and loved PC artists into the book of the year. this book was the talke of 2 PC retreats I've attended in the past month - great photos, clear instructions, and interesting new techniques like using colored TLS to created glass and celadon china like finishes
