Product Description

“Jeff’s work has fascinated me since we first met while working on games like Dungeons & Dragons. His art and imagination were cutting-edge then, and what he brings to the children’s book world is cutting-edge now.”—Tony DiTerlizzi, co-creator of The Spiderwick Chronicles

“If I were a zombie, Jeff Miracola’s brain would top my list of things to eat. And this book would be dessert.”—Scott M. Fischer, illustrator of the New York Times bestseller Peter Pan in Scarlet

"It's a charming introduction to crytozoology for very young children, with the polysyllabic words they seem to enjoy, and gorgeously illustrated. And it has positive messages aplenty: man and manimal can live in harmony; you create your own fears; and working cooperatively is rewarding. If, as an adult, you have to read the same story every single night till your sanity gives way, this will be more pleasant than 99% of the competition."—Fortean Times

"Welcome to Monster Isle is a children's book I would have loved to read to my own kids...The kids will love these monsters, and adults reading this book to those kids will appreciate the homages, the lively plot, and the fun art...It'd be a terrific gift for any creature-loving kids in your life."—Tony Isabella, Comics Buyer's Guide

A family’s vacation goes bananas when a perfect storm tosses their skipper’s tiny boat off course. Now seven castaways are stranded on an uncharted desert island! Finnegan, his sister, parents, and dog Howl venture into the wild and encounter a menagerie of colorful monsters. Can these hardy survivors befriend seven beasts straight from their wildest imaginations?

Whimsical and lushly layered illustrations invigorate a zootopia of mythical creatures like the Yowie, Abominable Snowman, and Ogo Pogo. Adventurous readers will take a trip they’ll never forget, since being lost was never so fantastic!

Oliver Chin is the author of popular children’s books such as the Tales from the Chinese Zodiac series, Julie Black Belt, Timmy and Tammy’s Train of Thought, and The Adventures of WonderBaby. His family lives in San Francisco, California.

Jeff Miracola’s artwork is appreciated worldwide in Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering and Upper Deck’s World of Warcraft trading cards. He has illustrated for Warner Brothers’ Batman Beyond, Nickelodeon’s Animorphs, and Electronic Arts games. His family resides in Wisconsin.

As unique as it gets....5
Monster Isle is a great package in terms of art and writing. Of course, what is the greatest appeal is the art that Jeff Miracola creates for the book. Unique is approach, diverse, and full of wonder.. Jeff manages to capture the essence of what if feels like to see things thru the eyes of a child. Patterns, colors, and shapes are all playfully layed out in each page that keeps calling me back to take a second look to see something new. I have nothing but grand things to say about Jeff and his visions of joyful artwork. Any child will get a kick out of this book.

GREAT picture book5
What makes "Monster Isle" great is the illistrations. Jeff Miracola has put amazing detail on each page. My two boys are looking at it all the time and noticing different things on the pages each time. It is a joy as a mom to watch their faces as they examine the book. I think you will be pleased with this picture book for your children. Oh yeah, don't forget to find the hidden animal on each page. Thank you Jeff for putting so much of yourself and your effort into this book, we treasure it.
