The great dissenter Chomsky points out the hypocritical nature of US foreign policy and its implications for the rest of the world.

Terry argues that relief organizations, while having the best of intentions, react on knee-jerk reactions rather than researching the political situations they are entering into.

This was the assigned textbook in both an undergraduate and graduate level courses I took on the subject. Not a book to sit down and read like a novel, but a good textbook that lays out all the important characters in creating US foreign policy. A must-read for any serious student on the matter.

First introduced to this book my first semester of graduate school in a Middle Eastern politics class. Excellent introduction to the intractable conflict for students of IR and interested general readers.
